Dining at Hollywood Studios

We have a Disney Cruise/Universal vacation coming up in February. However, we're very quickly talking ourselves into spending one day at Hollywood Studios so we can see Galaxy's Edge. We are a family of four with DD age 10.5 and DS age 4.5.

I started thinking about what to do for dining, and I'm torn. I first thought 50s Primetime Cafe, since we all love it and we didn't eat there on our last trip. We've never been to Hollywood & Vine, but I realized it might be good since my DS is into Disney Junior right now (especially Vampirina, does she still meet there?). A plus with that is we could do the Fantasmic Package and take the kids to see Fantasmic for the first time. I thought of just having quick service meals, but with a full day at HS, I think we'll have the time and enjoy the break of a sit down meal (no park hoppers for one day of an already expensive trip).

Any other suggestions, or thoughts for what to choose? Sci-Fi was not a favorite of ours, so we don't plan to go back there.

At Hollywood Studios for table service meals, our family loves 50's (for food, antics and the atmosphere). We also like Sci Fi but just for the atmosphere, not really the food. We didn't love Hollywood and Vine, typical buffet and not that great. Vampirina meets there but only for breakfast and lunch. At dinner it's the classic characters. Other table service options are Mama Melrose (OK Italian) and Brown Derby ($$$, hit or miss for us). If you've done 50's before and enjoyed it, I might stick with that. My kids always love it (age 4, 10 and 12).

We did Brown Deby with the Fantasmic Dining package. The food wasn't spectacular, just avarage, but we were in a great sitting area for the show and I thought overall it was a good choice.

Sometimes for kids you have to bite the bullet and do Hollywood & Vine but remember your going for the character interaction (which is great) but not the food. I let the girls decide where we will eat which always includes 50's Primetime. They love the chocolate peanut butter cake there as well as the pot roast. My only rule is since I pay for the vacation I get one meal either lunch or dinner at Sci-Fi. I love drive ins.

Would agree, when our kids were younger, we did alot of mediocre character meals which made them very happy.
As they got older, they didn't want to do those, but enjoyed the better meals (and the cost went up). Not sure which was worse.

Since you will have character meals on the cruise, I would go back to 50s as you know you enjoy it.
