Dining at Disney Hollywood Studios - We're at a loss.

The Hollywood Brown Derby is the only good (it's actually very good) eatery in DHS. As a pp said, you can get away cheaply there. As for the other TS restaurants and the CS in DHS, the park has, IMO, a very weak dining lineup.

Have you dined at BD recently? We found last year that they now have the dinner menu at both lunch and dinner with the same prices all day.

However, it is the best dining at HS and still one of our favorites, but we will do it only for dinner now.

I know in the past Hollywood and Vine got horrible reviews; however, recently they seem to have turned things around there. We were reluctant to eat there last June; however, it turned out to be one of our favorite meals. They have changed the characters to include Handy Manny and Little Einsteins. The buffet had a nice selection, service was very good. The character interaction was probably the best of any character meal we've had. (Well, Cinderellas Royal Table IS kind of hard to beat;) ). I think they took the poor reviews seriously and made some big changes. I would definitely eat there again.

We ate at Mama Melrose's for the first time this past May. Like you, we've always eaten at 50's and Sci Fi so we wanted to try something different this time. The food was pretty good, the service was really slow at times. I'm not sure if it was because it was Memorial Day weekend, but we had an ADR for 8pm and didn't get seated until 8:30 (that was after I complained). Once we were seated our server was very attenttive and our food came out rather quickly.

Eat here every trip and it is always slow, order a bottle of wine and make an afternoon relaxing event, that what we do:lovestruc The food is good enough, I'm Italian so we can cook... Its not like mine but I enjoyed some of their dishes very much... Enjoy OP.... :wizard:

I know it's counter service, but we love the Backlot Express. The food is really good and there are many places to sit and enjoy your meal.

I enjoy Mama Melrose a lot. However, if it doesn't have to be TS, I would go to Min and Bill's Dockside Diner around Echo Lake for a counter service option. That is where my family usually picks up lunch. The chicken caesar sandwich is wonderful. Inexpensive and great food. (the menu is very limited though but it is perfect for us) I would give it a try,

If you're not married to a TS, then I would go to Starring Rolls and grab sandwiches (and cupcakes!)

Personally I love the Sci-Fi :(

But I think you should try Mama Melrose, I think the food there is pretty good. I really like the Chicken Parmigiana, its wonderful.

I have another vote for the BD. I ate there in May and ordered the Cobb salad and the potato crusted crab cake. Huge fan of the cobb salad. So delicious. Not a big fan of the crab cake. Then again, I am from Maryland, crab cake standards are pretty high.

I always pay OOP and didn't feel like I was ripped off. Had a great experience there.

We liked mama melrose...CM recommended booking it for 2:30 ressie before 6:30 Fantasmic....ate QS after the show....worked out well!
