The only places we've eaten at DHS are:
50's PT (3 or 4 times - food is just okay, and we're kind of tired of it),
Sci-Fi DI T (3 or 4 times - food is just not very good),
ABC Commissary - (1 time- A major cattle call and the food is not very good),

We've never eaten at the Brown Dirby, but we've never wanted to spend that kind of money at lunch. DHS is a half day, morning park for us, so we're never never there for dinner. Does anyone have any ideas?

We did Hollywood and Vine this past trip for Breakfast. Food was good (the typical Disney breakfast fare) but entertainment caters to the pre-school aged crowd. We never did Starring rolls for a meal (although it always looks good) but did eat there for snack credits.

We eat at the Signature restaurants a lot and we never thought the menu or pricing of Brown Derby was worthy of our meal credits.

Brown Derby doesn't have to be expensive. Split the cobb salad, a soup, and a dessert and you're only out $30. They do have a kids' menu for the little ones.

OR, do the Cape May breakfast buffet before park opening then go somewhere outside of HS for a late lunch when you are finished with the park.

The only restaurant we'll eat at in DHS is 50's. If you want to skip there, why not have a big breakfast either at your resort or as a PP mentioned Cape May and just stop for a snack if you get hungry around lunch time?

Why not Mama Melrose? I've had a few good meals there. And good service, as I recall.

If you're only doing a half day then why not get a snack around maybe 10:30-11:00 and book at TS ADR at either a Crescent Lake resort or your own resort for around 1:00-1:30?

Typically we're able to get out of there before noon, and eat somewhere else. With the re-opening of Star Wars, however it looks like we may be there until the early afternoon. We normally do just a quick snack in the mornings and do rope drop. Unfortunately this time, it looks like lunch may be a must.

I forgot about Mama Melrose. We ate there for dinner one evening, as a part of the Fantasmic show. That's a good alturnative. Thanks.

The Hollywood Brown Derby is the only good (it's actually very good) eatery in DHS. As a pp said, you can get away cheaply there. As for the other TS restaurants and the CS in DHS, the park has, IMO, a very weak dining lineup.

We like Mama Melrose for lunch or we like Cape May for bfast and dinner around our DHS day.

Do you have the DDP? Starring rolls is a great lunch option-you get a huge sandwich on foccacia bread and a cupcake for dessert......

:worship: Butterfinger cupcakes......

We haven't had a bad experience at MM. Heard Brown Derby is very good as well. Forget H&V. Gave them the Trifecta of Bad.... bad food, awful service and dirty. Wouldn't go back there if it were free, which is too bad because we liked it the one time we were there for breakfast when it was a Minnie 50's theme. After it became Jo Jo's circus place took a nose dive.

We have had lunch at Hollywood & Vine a few times at DHS. It is full of preschool characters but we did not go for the characters but to be in A/C because it was June!

We enjoyed it, it was good.

:goodvibes

It really depends on what you like - but in my opinion, the Brown Derby is excellent and the only place I like to have a meal at DHS.

We ate at Mama Melrose's for the first time this past May. Like you, we've always eaten at 50's and Sci Fi so we wanted to try something different this time. The food was pretty good, the service was really slow at times. I'm not sure if it was because it was Memorial Day weekend, but we had an ADR for 8pm and didn't get seated until 8:30 (that was after I complained). Once we were seated our server was very attenttive and our food came out rather quickly.

We liked Brown Derby very much for the fantasmic package! So, much we went back for a lunch the same trip. I've seen negative reviews but the majority seem to complain because it is 2 dining plan credits. We get the deluxe plan so plenty of credits for us. As another poster said, it doesn't have to be expensive if paying out of pocket.

At Brown Derby, the cobb salad appetizer for 1 was HUGE! The soup was delicious and my grouper entree superb. Read more in my review (link below).

If you are done with Hollywood Studios and ready for dinner, we enjoyed taking the boat to the Boardwalk. We had an incredible dinner at Flying Fish Cafe and the evening entertainers on the boardwalk were a lot of fun.

Honestly, there isn't anything in HS that i think is good food. We've tried Mama Melrose, Hollywood & Vine, and Sci-Fi. We did them, they weren't terrible, but we won't do them again. We usually take a boat ride over to Cape May (at the beach resort) and do breakfast there. And it has goofy and friends there! That to me would be your best bet. Good luck!!

We enjoy the food at Mama Melrose's, but the service was a bit slow. We enjoyed our meal at the Brown Derby very much. We paid OOP and it was expensive, but well worth it. Our favorite is 50s Prime Time.

We have very much enjoyed our meals at Mama Melrose and Brown Derby. However if we had to chose only one it would be Mama Melrose. We had excellent service and meals. We were in and out. Brown Derby was slow.

We did Hollywood and Vine once and will never do it again. Bad service and yucky food.
