I am trying to figure out where to eat while touring at AK. Alas our beloved TH will be gone by then and it does not appear the new Y&Y will be open yet (nor will the TH buffet). I have never been to Flame Tree so that is a definite choice. But I will be at AK three times during 8 days and don't think I can eat there every time. I don't have much interest in Restaurantasaurus. Maybe I can go out of the park? Here is my plans as of now:

Day 1: Tour AK (solo), stay through lunch and mid-afternoon
Day 2: Take the wild by design tour solo (runs until 11:30). Was planning on eating lunch at AK and then catching the early afternoon Nemo. But if I could work it out to fit that in another day, I could leave after the tour and do lunch out of AK
Day 3: Tour AK with DH (it is his only day there).

I am not a big italian meat eater so the sandwich at Pizzafari that seems to get good reviews is sort of out. The pizza reviews don't seem to be great. Any thoughts?

We too are going to miss TH this Sept. :confused3 . We like the food at Flametree and I can heartily recommend it. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 . I too am not that fond of Restaurantosaurus, but DD7 likes it, of course. We also don't care for Rainforest Cafe. As far as Pizzafari goes, we might be trying it this trip as I have read some pretty good reviews for it and with all our trips there we haven't tried it yet.

I would say try Flametree your first day, and see how you like it. Then you could return to it with DH. Or go ahead and try Pizzafari. They do offer a Caesar Salad with chicken that sounds good and most of the salads we've had at Disney have been good. Also good was the Fruit Plate at Flametree.

Have fun!

I would highly suggest taking the Disney transport bus from AK across the road to Animal Kingdom Lodge. You can dine at Boma there. It is a very nice buffet and wonderful resort to visit. Jiko is another restaurant there and more upscale.

We actually have dinners planned at both places during the week. We love Boma and are very excited to try Jiko. Having more trouble with AK area lunches...

We like the Rainforest especially w/ the little kids....They are amused at all the noise( Thunder, Gorillas, etc..) but the food is average @ best for the price. I guess it is all part of the experience:banana:

We absolutely love Pizzafari! It is so huge in there-lots of quiet places to eat.
The murals are lively and fun. They have the best cheese pizza, and my DH loves the salads. They also have those Minute Maid frozen lemonades that are just perfect on a warm, summer day. I wish we were there for lunch now-it's
a "must do" for us!:thumbsup2

Flame Tree BBQ

Is the Tusker House still open? If so, we enjoy lunches there also, I heard that they wanted to turn it into character dining somewhere. . .

Tusker House is about to close and will reopen as a buffet. Breakfast will be characters--replacing Donald's Breakfastosaurus.

I recall reading somewhere that Flame Tree BBQ only has outdoor seating. Is that TRUE? In the dog days of August, I'd rather eat pizza in a/c than delicious BBQ in the hot sun.

Somebody tell me it ain't so....

unforunately, outside seating, but I think they have those fans??

Oh, if you are already booked there, then I think you are pretty much stuck for right now. Until they open up the new sit-down restaurant, there are limited choices at AK. I think the Studios are also lacking being that Mama Melrose's has gone down the tubes.
