dining aboard the wonder

Hi everyone,
My family and I are cruising in April. I'm thinking about skipping our night in Tritons.
Just curious to know what others have done for dinner if you have skipped a restaurant. Thanks for the input!

We are actually planning on skipping meals this march too. Want to do other activities. Other dining options are only: room service, fastfood on deck 9, maybe eating more B or L's. The buffet is NOT serving dinner (sadly). Some of the bar's are supposed to have something to eat for $$? And of course you can eat off the ship at the excursions.

Funny you are planning on skipping Tritons. In july 2004, my sis and I thought that would be our least fav meal, (food wise) and kinda dreaded going. BUT turned out to be our only favorite meal. And the only one we plan to attend in march. We loved the room, the food, and the overall atmosphere of the cruise. Felt like you where on a real ocean crossing vessel of the 40's. Beauitful.

Thanks for replying. i still have not decided. I just saw a recent menu from 9/04 and nothing seems appealing,besides the fact the men in my party do not want to wear a suit coat! Thanks again

I would skip the first night ecause that is usually repeated on the last night if you are on teh 4 night. I wouldn't skip Triton's either. PC is our least favorite, just typical food.

The only time we skip the regular rotation restaurant dinners is to go to Palo -We consider the evening dining experience at the restaurants a "do not miss" highlight of the cruise....we really enjoy being pampered by the waitstaff..

Just out of curiosity,what activities are happening aboard the ship that would preclude you from attending the regular rotation dining? I always thought that DCL planned activities around dining schedule....for example, for late seating diners, show at 630, cabaret show or bingo at 730, dinner at 830, another show or activity at 10....

In addition, Tritons is by far our favorite of the rotation restaurants on the Wonder.....elegant without being stuffy...

Our problem in July was late seating, and way too chatty We had good tablemates. And slower waiters. All added up to getting out of dinner about 10:30 - 11pm. Which we found movies already started, clubs filed up, and crowded (smoky too). Just wanted an earlier start. We are 2 adults and we are NOT able to get 1st seating. waitlisted but not to optimistic. So just feel we spent too much time at dinner, which we thought the food a little over rated, and time getting ready for dinner, not worth it this time and want to try other activities we didn't get to do. So it comes down to it, If dinner is at 8:30 and we went to the "show" at 7:30 (1st) we had to get dressed etc... from 6pm >6:30pm your tied up till 10:30. That's a large amount of time.

We also plan to absolutely skip Hercules! wish I knew that the 1st time.

We both are used to going into work at 5am so are very early risers, and even on vacation, you just can't seem to "sleep" in, so after a while, I can't stay up all nite anymore. (getting old)

So hope this works out, I plan on trying to get Palo ressies for 1 nite (early) and that would give us 1 resturant dinner. Otherwise we will just grab something quick.

We've been DCL twice in the past 12 months, and both times we thought Triton's was the best food and the most fun. It's an elegant restaurant, but the wait staff as you might expect does put on the slightest hint of "airs" about being in a formal setting.

As for the suits, don't worry about it. DON'T WORRY! Every time we've eaten at Triton's, I'd say 50% of the men wore polo shirts, 25% ties, and 25% suits. And the waiters were great about it. No one said anything or looked at anyone. DON'T WORRY! You dress up, let the men wear what they want, and enjoy the dinner!!

OK, I guess I will just have to wait and see how the days go. Does anyone know how often or if they ever change the menu selections?

WHERE CAN YOU SNEAK A PEEK AT CURRENT MENUS ABOARD THE WONDER ?

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ONE. WE ARE TRAVELING WITH SOME OF MY HUSBANDS FAMILY AND FOR THEM ITS ALL ABOUT FOOD IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. THEY WONT BE SKIPPING ANY DINNERS FOR SURE LOL.

Suzanne, I actually found these menus on the castaway club site. I know they also have sample menus in the passporter book and a few other cruise sites also. Good luck and have a great trip! I know I can't wait!!!
