Does anyone know if the dining plan is available with tent camping @ Fort Wilderness? I was under the impression it wasn't.......

Also, has anyone done a full week tent camping @ WDW? How was it and would you do it again?

Thanks so much.

My only recommendation is that you don't go during June/July when it rains A LOT during the afternoon. IMO, no matter how awesome the tent is, there is always the possiblity of it leaking when it doesn't stop raining cats and dogs for a long time!

I don't know about the DDP.

you can get dining plan, and if you can get a sight with a comfort station directly behind you and you have a great tent, cots, get cable hookups and such, then a week probley, some people love it, the heat is unbearable May - August, if you don't have some kind of cooling source it can be bad, once you pay for tent all accessories you need to be comforatble, you mind as well pay an additional 40 dollars a night for a value,, if you are going with a large family and thats what your options are travel in October, early Nov or late Feb March and April,, if you go in Dec or Jan it does get real cold at night so make sure you have heat source.. Well anyways it can be done and be enjoyable if you make sure you make yourself comfortable, godda confess though I personally only made it one night.. but I'm not a out doorsey girl..

We spent 11 days in Oct. 2007 and had a WONDERFUL time. The weather was incredible and we cant wait to camp again.
We have spent time in other resorts from budget to deluxe and I have to say we like the campground the best. Cabin, tent or camper doesnt matter to us.
Halloween was amazing .. the decorations, the activities.. it was a ball.
I am looking forward to Christmas there next yr.
Try for a site near a comfort station and yes you can use DDP when tent camping.
Head to the camping board.. lots of knowledgeable dis campers there.

We camped with our pop up, which is just one step up from your tent. It is possible to get the dining plan when camping and I have to say that it really is the way to go. I cooked NOTHING while we were there so there was nothing to clean up.

I would suggest going in mid April or beginning May but probably no later unless you have some sort of air conditioning. We were there the week after April and it was hot hot hot. We ran our air conditioning a lot. You may also want to bring a tarp or two to put an extra cover over your tent to protet against the rain. You never know when it's coming and there's nothing worse than having a wet bed.

We saw some people tent camping in the preferred area and they were running cable and everything. Just make sure that you have a sand pit.

Personally, I think camping at WDW is the way to go if you like to camp. Make sure you get a golf cart for your trip. That really makes it easy to get around.

thanks for not telling me I'm in the wrong forum (I logged in from WDWinfo.com & didn't see the camping forum).

We're going October so weather should be nice. I love camping, the facilities @ Ft Wilderness look great. There's always that one group with the dog or stereo that screws it up for us, but we'll gamble. The difference in price betwen the campground and Coronado Springs (where we stayed last) definitely makes camping attractive.

Thanks again
