DING--What is the procedure?

If, by chance, a DING fare comes up, could someone tell me exactly, step by step, how to cancel (OMGosh! I have to cancel??? ) a flight to get the DING, please? And, once I have a DING window open, for four seats, can you reassure me that.......it won't disappear while I'm cancelling and I won't be left with nothing? And who would come and restart my heart???

Ok, have one window open to cancel your flights, have another window open all the way up to buying the 4 new seats. I "believe" once you have the window open where you will be purchasing the new seats it will hold them for 10 or 15 mins. You can then cancel the originals, and rebook your new seats. You can already put your refund confirmation number in the new seats to use your funds that you have because it's the same confirmation number that you got when you booked your original seats.

Go to www.southwest.com and click on DING. It is cheaper than normal fares with southwest, you have a limited time to book the travel. For Zip code put in 14225/Buffalo.

I saw the DING Marilyn and with a credit to use up by November 25, it's just about killing me not to book something (I think I'm becoming a "DINGaholic" ) but we decided to hold off until the fall when it's a bit cooler. Plus we ARE going to Disneyland in July!

I just did what cabmom posted with the latest ding $54 for my friends trip and it worked like a charm...I only started booking her trip May 25 for the end of august and already she has $200 in credits for 4 people!!! Looks like I'll have a better arguement in trying to talk dh into a couple only trip in October..."but honey, we have to help Lori use up those ticketless travel funds". hehehe.

YEAH!!! I can POST!!!! I have been trying since this morning. I couldn't even do the Quick Post thingie.

Your instructions were just right, and I was able to DING both my outbound and inbound flights. Now.....I have a credit with SW of $200. But my heart was pounding and in my throat the whole time. I don't know how I could type, my fingers were shaking so much!

Oh, and THEN, I didn't get my email confirmation. The first, second and third times....email within a minute. This time....NOTHING. After 20 minutes or so, (shaking again), I call SW and the CSR checked. Yep, I was there! She gave me my confirmation numbers (hadn't printed them down) and said I did fine. Then she emailed me again, and I got the bunch about 15 minutes later. Apparently a problem with my ISP. Just what I (didn't) need!!!

So, thanks again. I can stop checking now, right?
