I would appreciate if someone could answer some questions, although I know that they are probably very redundant.

How far in advance do DING fares come out? I am looking to book a trip next May, so when should I expect to see DINGs for that time period?

I registered on the SW DING site. Do other airlines offer DINGs also?

Will they automatically notify me by email of current DINGs, or do I need to go on the site daily?

Thank you so much for helping! :wave2:

SW usually opens fares 5-6 months out. For example - it is June and you can book through October.

As for Dings - about 2 months or so before hand, you may get a few random ones before then.

Ding is a southwest tool -- I don't know of any other airline that has something similar. If you are running windows, you will get a flag thing that will pop up on the little orange triangle down by your clock. Just double click on the triangle and it will pop up a window with a link to the ding fares - double click the link and it will automatically open your browser. Yes, you should watch that little triangle throughout the day (I've heard others say it makes a sound too, but I have the sound turned off on my computer)

Alternatively.. you can subscribe to the Ding tracking thread here on the dis, and set it to email you when it gets updated.. you might get a few false alarms.. but it should be pretty good.

For a while they were only offering DINGS for the following month (i.e. it was May and DINGS were for June). Now it's opened up a bit more and we've already seen a couple of DINGS for September.
