Okay, I just followed the "download DING" link on southwest.com. Now what happens? What does it look like, should I see something DING related on my desktop? I'm not sure if I did it right, any help would be appreciated!

You should see an orange colored tail of an airplane icon in you're system tray on the bottom right.

That will tell you that you are subscribed. When a DING is announced a small white mail envelope will be on the tail. Click that and the message will open. Click the message and see the available DING's.

Also, if you're sound is on, it will make a DING sound.

Hope this helps.

I see the tail of an airplane with an orange exclamation point over it. Does that probably mean I did something wrong?

Right click on the wing. Look at what is check or unchecked. Check connect if it is not checked. You did not do anything wrong, you just have not set it up yet. There will be instructions when you right click on the wing.

Okay, when I click on connect a window pops up asking me to add airports. Once I add the airports it tells me to register. So I added 3 airports, but when I clicked update registration it said "unable to connect to southwest.com." Any suggestions?

right click on the tail. Is the connect to SW clicked? If not, click that.
someone recently had this problem and there is a little drop down menu near where you select your airports. Apparently it is not that easy to see. You might try looking for it.
Other option, call SWA's tech support. Hope this helps.

Do not hit the "Update Registration" button at the top of the screen. When you are in the window selecting your airports there is a scroll bar immediately to the right of the window that shows the airports. Scroll down, it will ask for your zip code and Rapid Rewards # (if you have one). Then there is a "Register" button under the Rapid Rewards box. Click THIS register button (not the 'update registration' at the top). That should work. If it doesn't try turning off any firewalls that you have running. I was setting up my MIL's DING last nite (she was having the same problem/error as you are). Her Norton Antivirus was causing a problem (along with the fact that she hitting the "wrong" register button). Once we got her registered we turned Norton back on and all was fine and she got her first Ding an hour later :thumbsup2

Thank you for your help!!!! I installed DING ages ago and I knew there was a "joker in the deck" but, could not remember what it was. I was trying to help with what I remembered, but, it seems this ole memory ain't what it used to be. LOL
