I just downloaded ding, and just have 1 question, I"m going next November (i know i do have quite the wait) But before i downloaded DING we said we were going to but our tickets in May - 6 months before the trip. Now I see that ding only goes 1 month out, so I was wondering is it safe to wait til the month before, will I most likely get a ding, cause if not the air might be more expensive to book that close to the trip, i'm so confused. What do you all do. And have you ever waited and not got a ding. The ding that just came through is the one i'll want PVD-MCO for 49$ one way. :cool1: Thanks for any ifno.

I don't think it is safe to wait until the month before. They may or may not have a DING fare for your dates and by then the lower fares will be gone. Depending on the time of year (and sometimes whether or not you want to travel over a weekend) the lower fares can disappear relatively quickly.

What I will be doing is buying the tickets as soon as Southwest releases the dates. I will buy two one way tickets because I am leaving in October and returning in November. If a DING fare comes out for either flight, I will cancel it and rebook with the DING fare using the credit.

Southwest may not release their November flights in May. Right now they are out only until September 12. I understand the regular fares for that time were not all that low to start with. If that happens again, you may want to start looking into what other airlines are offering.

I've noticed that the recent DING fares regarding Baltimore (that's where I catch SW) are generally only good on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, another good reason for me to book two one way tickets... I'm leaving Orlando on a Wednesday and if a DING fare comes out for that day, I can change that flight without losing the time of the Baltimore-Orlando flight.

you can still hold out hope if you book with SWA. What we've done for our August trip is book with SWA early (as soon as they released our dates). However we are still holding out hope for a ding (or even just a rate drop). Then we'll rebook and get credit. If we get a cheaper fare, but same category I believe we can even get credited back on our cc. With a ding we'll just take SWA credit. Either way... we're hoping.

BTW, 3princesses+aprince, that is what my screen name should now be...as you can see in my signature. Since we just celebrated the fair prince's 1st b-day, perhaps he isn't "new" anymore...???

Good luck with airfare!

A fellow Mass resident here looking to fly SW in August out of Green -- can you tell me exactly how this re-booking works? I have never flown SW before and I notice their website offers a lot of different types of fares. Which is the one to book that can be "re-booked'? I have already loaded DING onto my computer.

Please advise, and thank you!
