Ding Disappointed :-(

I'm chalking this up to a "now I know" experience but I'm still sorta disappointed. I saw a nice Ding! for BWI to MCO for the first leg of my travel dates. I called and the VERY kind and patient SWA rep talked me through what to do--book the new fare, cancel the old, get the credit. BUT after I did my part of booking the new fare she said I couldn't do it bc I'd booked a round trip ticket and I'd have to book a round trip Ding!. boo. She was very nice and credited back my credit card and had thankfully left my reservation intact. So now I know not to monkey with my reservation unless both dates qualify. oy! I guess next time I'll book 2 one way tix. Live and learn but my emotions ran the gamut within 6 or 7 minutes!!!!

Yep - I did the exact same thing the first time as well. Now I always book two one way fares even though occasionally they come up a tiny bit more expensive than r/t. Since I always end up with a ding or sale fare on one or both segments it works out better in the long run.

Only problem is those "credits' burn a hole in your pocket and next thing you know your booking another trip because you have a few SWA $'s.

I would have never thought to book two one ways instead of a round trip. I'll be making my SW reservations next month (I hope) and I'll remember this good advice!
