Have you ever eaten at one of the "Diners, Drive-Ins or Dives" shown on the Food Network? What did you think? Would you recommend it?

The only one I've visited is Flakowitz in Boynton Beach, FL. Food and bakery both good!

YES!!! All of the ones I am familiar with that they have had on the show are EXCELLENT places to eat.

Yep...Frank's Diner in Kenosha, WI. It's a tradition that we hit Frank's after a Saturday morning dentist appointment. Love the food and the atmosphere...HATE the wait!

Oh yes! In fact one place where I live ( sacramento ) he was told to try the squeeze, we had already eaten there. He loved it. There are a few places we have tried as well and they were really good. Jo

We always stop by Bob's Taco Station when we are going by Rosenburg and get dozens of tamales to go. Delish!!! :yay:

Went to Joe's Gizzard City in Potterville MI. It truly is a dive. Pretty much everything is deep fried. They do have a unique way of preparing chicken gizzards though. It was something I had to try once, and once was enough. Not a big fan of fried stuff.

We had a lot of fun with the locals that populate the place. We were sitting by the jukebox and a guy came over, put in 5 bucks and told my wife to pick some songs. Her tastes are very eclectic so out comes Johnny Cash, The Clash, Bruce Springsteen...the locals were amused!

YES!! We have been twice to the Marietta Diner in GA, and once to Iron Barley in St Louis.

We also hit two long-ago suggestions from Rachel Ray (back when she traveled :lmao:)... the Flying Biscuit in Atlanta for bkfst, and Fitz's in St Louis for freshly-bottled root beer and fried ravioli.

Oh yeah, my DH went to another DDD place while travelling for work... Ruth's Diner in Salt Lake City. He said it was excellent!

Would go to any of these again, in a heartbeat. :goodvibes Expecially Marietta Diner, whenever we visit family near there. At all these places, the food was good, with as fun atmosphere as it seemed on tv.

And we have several new DDD places noted that we would like to try on future trips! We're total travel foodies.:rotfl: Even some of the Man vs Food places have made our list... but NOT the monstrous food challenges featured there. :scared1::sick::scared1:

Yes a local place, before it was featured on the show. It has always been a favorite place of mine and dh's. I try to keep a mental note of all the places he's been in case we travel to one of the cities.

We have ate at 3 places so far that have been featured on the show. Two of the places were great!!! The other was horrible and we won't go back to that one.

We loved The Shed BBQ in Ocean Springs, MS, it is definately a dive but it has the best BBQ - that one is hands down our favorite.

We did not like the Blow Fly Inn in Gulfport, MS - I'm not sure if we just hit it on a bad day but it was bad:sick: and we won't go back.

I have eaten at the Marietta Diner that he featured o the show. It was great. I love Guy and his show, it is awesome.

My husband and I ate at Al's Breakfast in Minneapolis, MN. We had a horrible experience. Rude wait staff (and not rude like Dick's Last Resort or WCC where it is part of the restaurants charm/shtick), bad service, expensive, dirty, and below average food. It very much seemed that if you were not a regular then you better anticipate being treated as a second class customer.

Since that experience I have been very hesitant to try any other restaurant featured on Diner, Drive-In's and Dives.

We've eaten at two of the places featured on the show; Cattleman's Steakhouse and Ingrid's Kitchen both in Oklahoma City. Cattleman's exceeds expectations from the show, their steaks are the best I've ever had and my
DS11 declares them the best steaks in the world! Ingrid's is good, although I've had a better reuben sandwich in Ohio's Amish country however Ingrid's pastries are excellent and very fresh.

I wish! I get so hungry watching DDD! There's nothing really close to us, though. (Nowhere worth recommending, either)

Is this the Squeeze In you are referring to? I think the original is in Truckee and now there is one in Sac and Reno. Personally, I have eaten at the one in Truckee several years ago really liked it but the one in Reno is blah and IMO way over priced.

When we travel we seek out DD&D's establishments. My DD gets on the FoodNetwork website and scouts out a few for us to check out.

Burger & Me in Truckee, CA was delish. My Daughter and I went there on a whim on July 16th only to see the sign that they would be featured on DD&D's on July 19th!

Pine State Biscuits in Portland, OR was by far the best DD&D location we have visited. BluePlate Lunch Counter in Portland was also good, but Pine State was amazing.

We have been to all 3 Reno locations that were featured on the show in the past 6 months. The Dish, Louis Basque Corner and Gold & Silver Club.

Not yet, but we want to! Mom and I have thought about trying to do a road trip and stopping at as many as we can!

Does anyone know if there is a list somewhere? I know he has the cookbooks, but that would not be the best way to do it.

We have been to 2 here in the Charlotte area- Jake's Good Eats and 21 Drive In. Love Jake's and like 21 but think it's nothing special- just an old fast food joint.

We have a Cattlemen's here, I wonder if it's the same. I don't know, ours is a chain type steak place, really good but not really something that might be on DDD. :)

We almost ate at the Basque Corner in Reno but we decided to go somewhere else, we had a big group and all the guys wanted buffet. LOL

There are a few places around here he's gone, I'd like to try them out. there are also quite a few places that Man vs Food has gone that I'd like to try.

Love DD&D!

We actually took a Food Network inspired vacation in Memphis... It was great fun
Interstate BBQ... Dive-ish and AWESOME! All of the food was delicious.. I had BBQ nacho's ... and I do not ever order nachos ... it was yummy!
Uncle Lou's - VERY Dive-ish... my son and husband loved it.. and said it was the best spicy hot chicken they have ever experienced.
Tom's BBQ - again Dive-ish. Had their rib tips and BBQ... the sides were blah, the rib tips good.. but not something I would get again... their BBQ pork and beef ... VERY GOOD

Fitz's in St. Louis.. nice restaurant.. very good and fun too.
Fast Eddie's in Alton, IL( Alton Brown visited on his road trip) Lots of fun, huge bar ( 21 and up only) Good, cheap.. food.
Ted Drewes in St. Louis- Frozen custard... Drewes is iconic... and has tons of flavor combo's... it is a fun place to people watch too. Frozen custard seems to be a big deal in this area. my personal favorite is Gator's over here in OFallon, IL

When taking road trips we now plan on checking in with Flavortown website or DD&D and Food Network. It is always fun to experience something you have seen on tv. .. jmho
