hello

we are going to florida in august2004 it will be our third trip. Iwondered if anyone has done the dine with shammu meal. I looked at the seaworld website and it would be about £100 for all of us.

I have not prebooked before we dont tend to plan too much ahead but it seems that these things do get booked quite quickly.

thanks michelle

Hi Michelle,

Just got back and we did do the dine with Shamu, we were all looking forward to this very much sadly we were very dissapointed.

We expected some interaction with Shamu or at least some sort of close encounter. The trainers told you about some dolphin behaviours and about training the trainers.
The food was very minimal, choice of beef bourginon (sp) or chicken. dessert chocolate shamu or other cookie type things.
starter salad.
I would not do this again even though Sea World itself is my favourite place in Orlando.

Sorry if this is not what you want to hear but it is my opinion and other people may think differently/

Lynda

thanks Linda for a quick response.

We tend to eat outside of the parks but had wondered about doing this one.

Lynda, sorry to hear about your disappointment, i have just started to post my trip reports from last year (found lost notes) and on day 9 is our Seaworld day and dine with Shamu and we had a fantastic time with good food and excellent demonstation and photo opportunities. But as we all know things can vary from time to time. hope this is of some help to you.

We did Dine with Shamu 3 weeks ago and loved it :D

Food was good, as well as the Chicken & beef mentioned there was Paella, salads, veggies, crudites & dips etc and a good kids selection. Desserts included cup cakes, biscuits, jelly & fudge cake. Unlimited alcoholic drinks were also included (though the wine was like vinegar ) the bottles of Bud went down very nicely thank you ;)

We had 3 killer whales in the pool who came up close to the diners for the latter part of the 'experience' so every one got reasonably close. We weren't sat in the row of tables nearest to the water but once the main 'talk' from the trainer had finished a lot of people left so the girls went to the edge to have a closer look. The trainer then sent one of the killer whales over to say 'hello' - one of those magical moments :teeth:

Cost was approx $85 for the 3 of us (plus one under 3 free) - well worth it imo :Pinkbounc

Goodness Tracy,
sounds like you had a different experience, only one whale for us and no paella :(

Cost$ 128 dollars + tax for 2 adults and 2 ten year olds.

Lynda

Lynda, if you go to trip reports and read my trip notes day nine, we also had good food, two whales and a half hour show with the whales and a lot of other things beside. Cant remember what we paid for 2 adults but we came away very happy. Read my report and let me know what you think. alison.

Hi Alison,

just read your great report, sounds like you had a totally different experience, one which I too would have thought worth the money!!

We had one whale, no show at all, we had a ring side seat but still did not get anywhere near a whale, not even a splash.

No iced tea, but we did get pink lemonade! No fries or chips either and we certinly did not get a shamu cookie parcel although these were available as your dessert.

I note you are very motiom sick, I too have this problem and do not do the rides, Perhaps that is why Sea World is my favourite place.

Have you tried the new electronic relief band available on line from US, works like a dream, even got through hours of severe turb on the flight without sickness!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plates were not changed, if you wanted more food you used the same plate!

We dined with Shamu in the summer, good food but the experience wasn't value for money. The whale experience was minimal, and the photo opportunities very poor. I expected that the lids would get a close up picture with Shamu. Maybe it was our expectations.

Also, there are several rows, if you are not on the front row, it woudl be even worse.

Dining with Charaters in Disney was far better.
