Dine with Shamu

Well it can be really cool but we had an unhappy experience. We paid for our Dine with Shamu tickets and made reservations several weeks ahead of time. We were told it fills up quickly. However when it was time to Dine with Shamu lightning was spotted within a certain amount of miles away so they couldn't do the show. They didn't cancel the show or refund your money, just no SHamu. They did have the trainer talking to guests and answering questions, buffet was just okay, but it was really disappointing for the kids not to even get to see Shamu close up.

Now if you have a bright, sunny day I'm sure the show would be great.

We had fun. Food was just OK, but you got fed, plus a little extra Shamu time. We try to do it each time we go. If the money is tight I say skip it. If you can swing it then go. We love Shamu.

Aww man -- that is not cool. This may be a deal breaker.

We did Dine with Shamu a few years ago. Personally, I thought it was really lame. You really don't get much of an opportunity to see Shamu better than at the shows. The biggest let down of the dinner was that not all the tables are next to the water. If you happen to get seated against the building there isn't a great line of sight to see Shamu swimming. When we went, they assigned seats, so there was no opportunity to choose your own table.

We did it a couple of years ago and the whole family enjoyed it! We had booked it early so we got a table right by the water and at one point one of the orcas was right in front of us. The trainers came around and talked to us and my girls (who were 10 and 14 at the time) thought it was great - they still talk about it as a good memory from that trip. Food was pretty good but the best part was a chef making bananas foster right there - I'd do it again just to have that - yum!:thumbsup2

We did the Dine with Shamu when it first came out several years ago. The food was terrible - i think all you can it. Very basic stuff. However, we were at a front table. Our view was amazing. We got to ask a lot of questions from the trainer - very interractive. The kids loved being close up. At the time is was worth the money to be this close. However, it sounds like the program has gone down hill.

good luck.

We did it on Thursday 6/11/09. We also did it in 2005

We LOVED it! The food was AMAZING -- roasted turkey carving, rosted chicked, pasta & shrimp, pasta plaing for kids with choice of meatballs & tomato sauce; lots of desserts.

We went to a 3:30 seating (to escape the heat of the day). It wasn't sold out. All families had seats against the water.

One large whale palyed while we ate. The Believe Shamu show was going on & being shown on a screen.

After all were fed, a mother & daughter whale were brought into the pool and the large whale brought out. We watched the training of the baby.

I would NEVER hesitate to go.
