Great forum! Hope you can help me.

Here's my deal. I'm flying into MCO and I'm staying at the Swan (got a great deal of $119 per night!!). Anyway, that means no Magic Express for me.

But - here's the twist. I'm taking my 10 year old to Disney - but she's already in Florida with my inlaws. My FIL has agreed to bring her to the airport so I can take her on to Disney.

How am I going to manage this is my question?

I'm flying Southwest, btw. Also a great deal of $99.oo each way.

She and I will be flying back from MCO on Southwest.

So, your opinions please? Can I do a Mears Shuttle, or is that not going to work because I have to meet my daughter first. I can't be 100% sure when my FIL will get there (what if he's late, there's traffic???). Should I just take a cab? What are my options?

Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.

:welcome:

It may be easier to rent a car. We've only done pick ups and drop offs at MCO but maybe someone else knows of a drop off place near the Swan. With a few hours margin for time, this might be the most flexible besides a taxi and probably same price.
Never used Mears so sorry I can't help there.

PS. We love Southwest too! Watch your flight prices. Often the price drops and you can rebook it as a 'change' even if you choose the same flight again. This gives you a credit for future flights which you have a year from original purchase date to use.

With the mears shuttle you can just walk up to the counter and take their transportation. You can wait until your daughter gets there before going to the counter.

Ok - so if I make a reservation and give my flight info and all that, it doesn't matter when I actually use the service - I just go up to the counter and give my name and tell them I have a reservation and they'll take us on the next available shuttle? Is that correct?

Anyone?

Also - I was checking Mears and they want to pick me up at 7:20 am for a 10:30 am flight - no way!

So can I just call a cab when I want to leave? I checked the Swan concierge prices and they were very expensive.

Help! I'm going this Sunday and I really need to have this figured out!!!

Their times are not at all unreasonable. You should arrive at MCO at least 2 hrs prior to your flight to get through security and esp if you have luggage to check. I'd allow at least 45 mins-1hr to get to MCO which includes a little extra time in case of traffic/accident w/highway blocked/flat tire, etc.
If I were driving myself I'd be leaving at 7:30am.

Anyhoo, if you're looking for another company to use, we've used Happy Limo to PC and they were great to do business with.
good luck.

For the convenience, I would just use a taxi both ways. It will cost about $60 each way, but for what you're trying to do, it would be a lot easier.

When leaving your resort for the airport, simply call Bell Services and tell them you need a taxi. Chances are you'll have one within 10 min.

Leaving 2 hrs for the airport is about right, though. Factor in the possibility for traffic delays and crowds at the airport. One time I went, a convention had just wrapped up in Orlando and the lines for security were about 30 minutes long! I cut it very close that day.

One thing to note about Mears, sometimes they want you to leave earlier because the shuttle will stop at one or two other resorts before heading to the airport.

As an FYI - if you were staying at a WDW resort and taking Magical Express to the airport, they would also pick you up 3 hours prior to flight time.

I usually stay at the Swan, and have taken Mears both ways. I prefer to take it to the airport rather than to the hotel, because there can sometimes be a long wait for a shuttle at the airport. Instead, I would suggest renting a car from National or Alamo at the airport with drop-off at the Dolphin.
