December 5th is me and my boyfriend's anniversary. We decided to spend the day in MK and have dinner at 'Ohana. Sounds great, except one thing: My ADR is at 9:15 PM and Wishes is at 8. All i keep thinking about is how are we going to get there in time. It's making me so anxious. We can't seem to fit Wishes into our trip due to MVMCP going on almost every night we are there. We also don't want to cancel our reservation. Is there a chance we will get there in time? If not, do you think there's a chance for a walk on? Should we just forget about Wishes altogether? or forget about 'Ohana? please help /:

First, Wishes is at 10pm. A 9:15 ADR will put you in time to watch Wishes from the Poly at Ohana. I believe they pipe in the music from Wishes into the Restaurant, I know Cali Grill does. If you do happen to get out of Ohana by 10pm you can always walk down to the Poly Beach and watch Wishes from there.

I was on the wrong day, new recommendation! Sorry.

Wishes is about 15 minutes long. So you can either choose to watch Wishes from the Poly Beach (once again, piped in music). Or you can brave trying to leave after wishes to get to your ADR. But you'll run into all the people leaving after Wishes because that night is an EMH. I don't think many people who are staying in the Resorts would be leaving so you could try the Resort boat or Resort monorail. It'd give you about 45 minutes to get to your ADR. It's the only suggestion I really have.

This is the view you'll get from the Poly Beach:

Watch Wishes from the Polynesian beach and then go to dinner. Problem solved.

While I enjoy watching wishes from Main Street, it is absolutely beautiful watching it from the Poly beach. It is such a different perspective. We try to watch it from the beach at least once a trip. You won't be disappointed :thumbsup2

I've never watched Wishes in the park, but also recommend watching it from the Poly beach. You'll get to see Wishes, hear the music and enjoy the Poly a bit before your dinner. :)

This is really the best idea.

I would not be willing to watch Wishes from MK and then try to get out of the park and to the Poly before your ADR. Plus, you are asked to check in 15 minutes before your reservation. It's not worth the hassle or stress.

based on that photo alone, it looks like a great unobstructed view to me...personally I would watch from the beach! plus, fireworks on the beach is romantic. :O)

If fireworks is at 8, it will be done by 8:15. If you're comfortable working your way through crowds, it should not take any more than 15-20 mins to work your way out to the monorail. (prob under 10 mins as everyone else will be moving in the same direction). I typically go through the stores down Main St as it is a whole lot more crowded. the only danger there is getting stopped by an awesome deal!

Then it shouldn't take you longer than 20-30 mins at most to get to the Poly. Which really, even in a worst case scenario, you should be there by 9pm. I've never heard of anyone having problems arriving at their ADR up to 15 mins AFTER their ressie so give yourself until 9:30pm before you panic. what about seeing if you can move your ADR to 9:30pm?

You don't want to feel panicky and stressed or you won't be able to relax and enjoy Wishes AND your dinner. to that end, watching Wishes at the Poly would be lovely. i'd like to do that sometime. that said, I HAVE to watch Wishes at MK itself at least 1x a trip because I like to be in the middle of the action.

see, I've thought about watching Wishes from Poly more than one occasion. I always wanted to do that, but being that it's my boyfriend's first time at WDW, it's our anniversary, and both of us have never seen Wishes the way it was meant to be seen (in front of the castle), I wanted it to be really special. Obviously the fireworks are amazing from all views, I just thought it would be nicer. I mean the first time I saw the fireworks in front of the castle was like two years ago for Hallowishes with my best friend. Before that, like I said, I have never seen it directly in front of the castle. I thought it was incredible and it literally felt more appropriate in front of the castle. We both realize that if it can't happen, it can't happen. Disappointing, but what can you do. We decided that if we can't watch them in time for the ADR, that we would make time on the other day MK will not be having the Christmas party.

If you have your heart set on watching in MK just stand near the train station and just book it after the fireworks... with a 9:15 adr I dont think you will have a problem.:goodvibes

Hey Cate,

If you decide to ditch Ohana... I would love to take that reservation off your hands for the 5th :thumbsup2. I have been trying to get into Ohana and I will be there on the 5th.

Since you probably wont, i have a question that Cate also asked, so I'll keep it on this thread.

What are that chances of a party of 2 getting a table at Ohana's without a reservation?
I realize this place is very busy. But since we're only 2, I'm hoping we have a chance.
Would I be wasting my time?
What are the best times to try to get there?

The later you go the better chance you have..... Last September there was 2 lines at Ohana 1 for people with ressies and 1 for people with none.... they would call people 1 by 1 if a table opened up. I'd say go for it mid week after 9.:goodvibes

I don't think you'll have a problem getting from MK to the Poly in time for your ADR, as long as you don't dawdle after fireworks. If you think you'll be stressed over it, then just watch from the Poly beach as others have suggested. I don't think the experience is the same as seeing it from inside the park though.
