So I am considering doing a buffet. I know for myself when I go to weddings the food is absolutely horrible. That is what I don’t want my guests to walk out saying. SO I thought a buffet would be a great idea. We will be having a station for beef, chicken, fish, and an assortment of side dishes.
Now my wedding is a black tie formal event. Is it embarrassing to have them get up in their tux and women in their dresses to get their food?

I don’t want people to also not walk out be like “ugh I can’t believe they had a buffet, but the food was excellent”

I am caught in between… what do you think?

I don't think that its embarassing to have people utilize the buffet. Disney does such nice stations that it looks nicer than just a buffet and I don't think anyone would think differently. But I do think a sit down dinner is more formal. That's what we did and everyone raved about the food. I don't think you would have to worry about the food being bad no matter what you decide, Disney does a fantastic job!

I don't think it'll be embarassing.
It's better than having people pick on their food because they're picky eater.
With buffet, they are bound to find something they like.

Either way I think you'll have a great wedding... :)

Check out Caryn's TR - I think she had a mashed potato martini bar, which sounded very cool. Also there was a bride who got had her reception at American Adventure last year (Tammy, I think?) who had action stations with cuisine from all over the world that looked very cool.

I'm not a huge buffet fan myself, but Disney can make them pretty dang classy. :lmao:

Christina the buffet will be fine! Trust me,people just want to eat lol,I don't think they will care at all how thier food is served and if they do,oh well,it's not thier wedding.

I would love a Mashed potato martini bar.. and I would LOVE a pasta station
I have to call Michelle during my lunch break

Christina - buffets are really REALLY poo-pooh'ed in Montreal, so I know how you feel. I'm on the Committee of a big 'ol fancy schmancy Gala shindig, and I'm SCREAMING for decent food, which I don't think will come from the sit-down menus we have. That being said, the best wedding/event I ever went to, food-wise, was a buffet... and people are still raving about how good it was!!!

So I wouldn't worry about what people will think about a buffet at a black-tie affair. If you have the stations well set-up, with somewhat of a theme, it will be just great, and it won't detract at all from the formality of the event! :-)

Seems we're on the same wave length tonight Christina. It must be the October bride syndrome! :)

I'd love to see pictures of the martini bar - and I heard something about corn dogs for a kids buffet! I wish they would just publish a list of options. You're kind of on your own to come up with something NOT on their list.

We are in the same boat.. Most of the guests are a little old fashioned and think a formal wedding should be sit down. I was told that disney make the buffet very formal with the action stations and the good service they provide...I hope this is true because we can't decide..
