Ok all I have a little dilemma that I need some out of the box ideas! We have four nights booked at Grand Floridian in august. We are flying in the day before we check in to the Grand because I want to maximize our time at that resort.

My original plan was to book one night at a disney value resort and use Mears or sunshine flyer to get us there. However, Disney is really ticking me off and won’t let me book just one night at a value or moderate.

So, what do I do? I’m trying to stay as cheaply as possible that one night before our Grand Flo checkin. We have a toddler who would need a car seat if we rented a car, and I don’t really want to rent a car.

I’d love to stay at the MCO Hyatt but a room there is about $350, so that’s out.

If none of those I would also try one of the Disney Springs resorts. Looks like Mears goes to the good parter resorts like B Resort, Double Tree, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Marriott Wyndham.

I guess the bigger question is then getting from those resorts to the Grand Floridian could be a challenge without the luggage transfer and bus service. If you stayed close enough to Disney Springs you could walk over and catch a bus to the resorts for the toddler but not exactly the most convenient. Those good partner hotels do also have shuttles to Disney World so you could take their shuttle to Magic Kingdom then monorail over to Grand Floridian?

Ok I just read a thread on the Transportation forum that said luggage isn't allowed on Disney transportation mixed reviews on people being stopped so YMMV on that piece.

I guess the official response is booking transport from the good neighbor hotel to GF that will have a car seat or splitting up and someone using ride share with the luggage and someone else busing with the toddler.

Agreed, I would book the cheapest hotel you can find with the good partner resorts and then Uber/Lyft with the luggage to GF.

Can you just stay at an airport hotel that night then transfer to the GF in the morning?
Idk if you can get to an airport hotel there without transport tho…

How about one night through David’s Vacation Club at a DVC studio. You might get a delux for a good price if you go for a studio. Hotels.com normally do one room if there’s availability at a value resort.

We stayed at Hyatt Grand Cypress a couple of times. The rooms were reasonably priced and the hotel is gorgeous.

How about one night at Swan or Dolphin?
This. Then you get to enjoy the Boardwalk/Epcot resorts area for a whole night and morning, too.
They used to have car rental there, not sure if they still do, but you could rent a car until you get to GF. (And I believe there is a shuttle to a car rental kiosk over near the MK resorts area.)
