I posted this on the cruise board, but no one seemed to have a definitive answer. Here goes: We recently purchased 200 DVC points, got the letter saying everything was approved, etc., etc. We are very interested in taking advantage of the fall cruise special this Nov. We are: me, DH, DD, (13 on 4/12) and DS (11). Here's the dilemma: when I called to book it, I was told that I could not until we actually had our deed recorded which should take place on 4/2. In the meantime, the rates for teenagers (does anyone know what constitutes a teenager as far as rates go?)goes up effective April 1st!!!! If I cannot make the reservation until then, I will not have enought points to book it. Anyone have any info or suggestions? Thanks!

Under the Cruise line information for this DIS it clearly states that 13-17 will be charged as Adults beginning April 1. Ages 3-12 will still be charged the childrens rate.

I don't think it really matters how old the child is at the time you make the reservation. What really matters is how old the child is when you board the ship. Remember you are to carry birth certficates or passports because you are leaveing the country. You may be asked to show the child's birth certificate, at the terminal, to verify the child's age.

Yes, I know that, but the point is that if you book a 13-17 year old before April 1st, they will be charged kids' prices, right?

If you book your trip before the change in the age guidelines the old rates are applicable. You might want to try renting points from a fellow dvc member. Take a look at the rental board on this site. After you have come to an agreement, the points can be transferred to your account.
Good luck!

Renting the points would not solve the problem. You would just end up paying for the points from someone else, and then getting your full allotment of points. It might be possible that you could find a current member who would "loan" you the points and then have you transfer your points to them after your deed was recorded. They would have to make the reservation for you in your name--you still would be unable to make the reservation. The issue is that you cannot make a reservation for an exchange (DCL is an exchange) until after your deed is recorded. Remember that you do not have to pay for all members of your party with points. You could pay for three with points and one with cash (and that can be one of the "extra" adults). This does not solve your problem in the optimal manner, but you will get to take your cruise and not have to pay full freight in cash for everyone.
