Dilemma about point use

A little background: I am a newer insurance agent, and my DH has decided to become one as well. If he is chosen(we are 85-90% sure), then he will start training in October, and have a July start date for his agency. He will then have a year of observation. We will not be able to travel during the training, or first year of agency. So we will have almost two years of him not being able to go to Disney with me. Our trip in late August will be our last one together for a while. :sad1: Due to us being DVC members, we stay at DVC properties. We are currently scheduled to stay at BWV in a 1BR with a Boardwalk view(a dream of mine). This vacation cannot be changed due to us needing to use points before the first of September.

Here is my dilemma: My DH has always wanted to stay at the GF. He has always mentioned it when going to the MK, or eating at 1900 PF. I have contacted Member Services, and the week we are going in late August is open at the GF. Do I use an additional 100 points, and make a dream come true? I totally know what we will be giving up, space, washer and dryer, etc. I also will not be able to do a split stay. He detests it and this week will be about him. We will still have enough points for us to bank, or me to use for a girls trip, or rent.

So I am looking for opinions and thoughts. Thanks so much!

If it will make him happy and you can do it and want to do it, well, I would.

Best wishes. :wizard: I hope he does get the job!

Isn't that what DVC is all about?

That pretty much clinches it...sounds like it won't put you in a points bind. Since you said that this trip is "all about him", then why not fulfill his dream trip?

Are you sure you will be able to book it? You are in the last 4 months of your use year (September?).

I recently lost my mom to an illness and now live my life for now. So in my opinion I would 100% do it

Thank you to everyone for the support. DebbieB...our points were actually borrowed from our 2011 use year for one of my team members. She had to cancel the trip. I will need to call member services and double check. Thanks so much!

I think you are going to be hit with the "rule of 4", which means you can't book & stay outside of DVC in your last 4 months of your use year.

DebbieB....you were right. :headache::sad2: We have never had this dilemma before.

Now on to the next question....They have WLV and the AKV Jambo House available. We have many good memories at the WL, and we stayed at the Jambo House for our DFTW and Disneymoon. Both hold wonderful, treasured memories. I am leaning to changing it to AKV. Thoughts?

since you cannot get the GF, i would say to stay at the BWV, your "dream".
it'll probably make him happy to see you happy.
also, consider renting your points out in a few years, and using that money to book the GF......it's much more cost effective:)

I agree, a BWV boardwalk view is awesome! It's what keeps me a DVC member, I can't give it up!
