<banging my head>

A bit of back story...
Dh has known for a year he could loose his job, through no fault of his own. His tiny company (who has a contract through 2008) took on a Fortune 500 in several lawsuits (stupid on their part IMO -he told me what they were and to me it didn't seem smart... not worth loosing all of their contract with the big company. Pretty much all of their work came from this big company). Because of the lawsuits, the big company has been getting tight and not sending reports and data to the people need it. Dh can not easily do his job with out the data and reports.

We have heard the F-500 company was possibly out sourcing dh's position, plus a couple others like it, to some small country. We have also heard F-500 company will pay off the contract, but the small company will not do the work. I am not sure how that works exactly.

Dh is waiting for the CEO of his current company to call him back and let him know if he is still employed. Yesterday the CEO said they thought there would be at least 30 days, possibly more, but wasn't sure until he talked to the Fortune 500 company to find out WTHeck they are (not) doing.

Dh is job hunting. He hasn't lost his job w/small company yet, and the pay, working from home, and benefits are too good to 'drop'. We figure he makes close to $40 an hour right now, is able to work from home and has full time benefits. I told him I want them to eventually drop him, not him drop them.

He is getting calls which is great, but the jobs are well under what he earns now, no benefits, right now it (to me) isn't worth it. It also is positions he absolutely does not want to be doing. He has some leeway right now because he is still employed.

Whoever is on the phone right now is pushing him for a phone customer service job which he doesn't care for. He wants/loves doing database work (which is what he is doing now). This person is not letting up and it is driving me nuts.

On a downside/upside? He did not hear from small company today to see how long this current position will be going. It could end tomorrow, could end in 30 days (which yesterday he was told it would probably be 30 days and they would try and work something out in the meantime to go longer), it could be December 2008 (unlikely, but it could happen).

I told him to tell whomever keeps calling for these jobs, he is employed and will know more in a week. :confused3

How would you handle the situation? Especially when potential employers call.

It is unknown right now. I am guessing not, but I honestly have no idea. He has been with this company a year next month.
