Dilema..need advice!

HI all,
We are arriving at AKL on December 8th and the other party we are traveling with really wanted to see MK first on Friday the 9th. I'm a little hesitant to go to MK cuz that Friday the 9th is EMH morning. Do you think it'll be a zoo that day? I don't want our only full day at MK to be packed with long lines. Should we skip it and go on Sunday instead? There are no EMH on Sunday. Does it make more sense to go Sunday? I'm torn. Which do you think will be busier? If we do go on Friday we should definitely get there when they open an hour early right? Man, i don't know what to do, please advise!!

I planned our last trip around EMH and AVOIDING them. And also avoiding the parks altogether on the weekend when all the locals would be there. This worked great for us! Unless we only have one day we never do MK first. It has slightly more "magic" for kids and I've read that if you go there first then the other praks can be just oh so slightly less exciting for the children.

If you have only one day at MK and you need it to be a full day, I would not recommend a Friday. EMH morning leads to busier days overall. Sunday will definitely be the better choice.

Now.... If you would arrive at / before opening, planned to be there ONLY FOR THE MORNING, and would hop to another park in the afternoon, I would then suggest going to MK on Friday. Since Friday is EMH morning, this advice is valid ONLY if you can be at the turnstyles about 20 minutes before opening. If you arrive just 10 or 15 minutes late to EMH, you've kinda blown the whole reason for doing EMH.

But is that time of year in general super-busy??? I didn't think it was. So maybe the MK might be a tad bit more crowded than normal, but it porbably wouldn't be a zoo.

Mk will close at 6pm on the 9th for the christmas party.

Historically, high attendence coinsideded with early entry. I'm not sure how the evening EMH's effect it.

Stike the compromise (but don't call it that to your friend). Tell them that everyone says (and they generally do) to go and enjoy MK during the early hours and through the morning and then hop away around lunchtime.

I don't really ever have issues on Friday, just Saturday and Thursday.

As long as you have a park hopper, I would play it by ear. If MK is super crowded, go somewhere else. I think the fact that it's a MVMCP day and closes early will keep crowds down later. I found that days with no MVMCP are super crowded because they are the only nights for Spectromagic and have a later close.
