We always enjoy dining at the CA Grill. The kids prefer to go to The Neverland Club where they offer a wonderful kid's buffet for dinner. This is the first time we'll be using the DDP at the CA Grill.

Does anyone have suggestions/solutions to how our kids can use their TS (We realize the kids will have 2 more TS a piece) or will we have to sacrifice their extra meals to have a parents only dinner? Anyone else in this situation?

I haven't heard of this, but it would be sweet if Disney would allow kids to use 2 TS for 2 hours of childcare & anything beyond that time the parents would pay the difference.

What are parents to do that want one grown-up dinner without kids? Or should I ask, what are kids to do that want one dinner without parents?

We've had the same dillemma, my DD really wants to try the kids clubs, but we've always gone with DDP and haven't wanted to waste the kids credit. So, next time we're planning to go the AP/DDE route.

What about paying OOP for your dinner, and then booking another reservation for the whole family to try a different TS? If not, ask near the end of your stay if the extra TS can be converted to CS or Snacks, I have heard sometimes the CM's will do this near the end of your stay (2-3 days before) with the understanding that you cannot convert them back. You certainly wouldn't get the same value (as you would trade 1 ts for 1cs) but at least it wouldn't be wasted!

Actually, that's part of the Premium Plan. While we mostly discuss the Disney Dining Plan here, because it is incredibly popular, Disney does offer better meal plans, for a higher price. They have enhancements like being able to eat all TS meals, and being able to cover the child clubs with the plan.

How about letting your children order room service one night?

I don't know where you are staying, but some of the deluxe's have some nice choices for kids (steak, seafood, etc.) and lots of desserts.

Better than having the credits go to waste;)

I was also going to suggest room service or use them for a TS breakfast & pay OOP for the adults.

We're paying Out of Pocket for our full service breakfasts...if you are doing the same then you could use their credits there!

I love your idea of trading the kids' TS meal credits for child care!

But until that magical day, if you're staying at a resort with room service, you could always use their credits for that. It's 2 TS credits for one meal, so not the best use of credits, but might work for a light breakfast or even a late night snack for the family to share.
