Digital picture printing

I don't know...I'd have to look at those comparisons over time. It seems to me that if you're going to need to print photos that often (360 dollars worth stacked up already?) it might be smarter to invest in the digital photo printer. The cost per photo can be brought down by buying paper and ink in quantity and/or using coupons and deals online. I just got a pretty good deal by using a Staples coupon I had, or I can order online and get the upromise rebate as well.

Plus you have the convenience of being able to print the files whenever you want them to, to enlarge and reduce instantly, and many printers have imaging software included that will let you do things like special photo album pages, photo greeting cards, and other projects. It may not be the rockbottom "cheapest" way to go, but it might work better for you in the long run.

I think it winds up costing much more to print them. Plus my pictures are so important to me, no home printer will be good enough quality. I am so picky. But I'm defintaly not going to pay more to print lower quality pictures. That's just my opinion. I know it's more convienient and faster to print them, but thats not worth it to me. :flower:

My dad buys Kodak paper at costco so its the same stuff the store ones have and nobody can tell the difference on a photo printer between a store one and a photo printed one- just giving you the heads up.

My photos are saved on CDs, favorite ones printed, some vacations made into books and I've also made DVDs with photos and music. Kids enjoy remembering WDW vacations on DVDs set to Disney music. It's fun to have photos on different media.

That is really cool. How do you do it? I'd love to do that for our trip last year. I was so bummed that I didn't have my camcorder. This year I plan to bring it, but there were so many cute moments I wish I'd gotten. My son would love something like this.

I use winkflash as they are cheeper than costco at.16 a copy. there was a coupon in the parenting magazine for .08 a copy for up to 100 but I cant seem to find it. we keep all our pics in a folder in the computer and dh burns the cds also. mil will take the pics and make a mini movie out of the pics which is pretty cool and I make photo books from ofoto also.

I agree. I've got what I would consider a relatively low-end printer and I think the prints it makes are brighter and sharper than the prints I get from Target. If you can get the supplies cheap enough, I think printing at home is becoming a realistic option.

There are various software programs available to do this (I have a Mac, so I use iDVD). Some of the programs are very sophisticated, but others (like iDVD) are very simple but offer lots of fun options. When we go with friends, copies of the DVD I make are always a hit as gifts.
