Well I finally got around to posting some of my layouts that I created in Photoshop. I did these after I packed up all my scrapping supplies for our move and I missed scrapping so I tried my hand at digital scrapbooking, which it turns out, I really love doing!

I didn't do a whole lot of them and have since returned to traditional scrapping but last night I decided to do my RCCL Explorer of the Seas Cruise Album completely digitally. I did two layouts last night and when I am done my album, I will post it.

I like the look and feel of traditional scrapping better but I really really like the versatility and options I have in Photoshop!

Let me know what you think

All I can say is WOW.

I keep thinking about scrapping, but I don't have the creativity to do it, But I do have enought supplies already. I get sucked in at the craft store.

Those are GORGEOUS!

Wow, I never thought I would be willing to try digital scrapping but after seeing yours.....

OH MY GOSH, WOW! They are just as wonderful as your traditional pages, & you said you did them in Photoshop? Is that Photoshop Elements 2.0.? I have that one but never done anything with it! I'm so jealous of your talent! :flower:

b&bdiscruisers,

No, I use Photoshop CS. Photoshop Elements is like a baby version of Photoshop but I've heard you can still do a lot of great things with elements, so give it a try! There's tons on online tutorials for Adobe products, that's how I taught myself, trial, error and tutorials :)

Those are great--- I have always been afraid to do the digital thing, but now, I have a new digital camera, and a few vacations coming up, so I might just go out and buy some new software  to start a new scrapbook obsession!! thanks for sharing.

Hi Timon,
It's me again! I've gone online & looked at the software Photoshop CS, (boy, it's expensive! :earseek: ) & in the reading of the description of what you can accomplish with it, it doesn't state anything about digital scrapbooking. I know that I am ignorant when its comes to things like this, I guess I need for it to spell it out for me in detail. There are probably things in this software that I might never use, I think! If I ever decide to invest money in it I want to be sure that I can use it correctly to do what you've done! It looks challenging to me! Thanks for your help & patience with me & my crazy questions! I love scrapping the old way but would like to try a few pages your new digital way (not that I could ever accomplish what you've done digitally!) :flower:

WOW! That is absolutely amazing!
You have really branched out since the first digital pages you did of my two kids! I thought those were amazing but looking at you recent stuff....Makes me almost want to give it a whirl!

So are you still doing traditional pages or are you going to go this direction more and more?
Do you have an art or graphic back ground? just wondering! :teeth:

b&bdiscruisers,

Yeah it's a very expensive and highly powerful program. I wouldn't recommend it JUST to scrapbook, you can get cheaper stuff that will do what you want it to. I use it for other stuff and discovered that I can incorporate my scrapping into the program as well, and I am always learning new things!

Spinning,

Thanks :) The more I play with photoshop, the more I learn and find my digital scrappin style I guess. I just finished my wdw 2003 SB not too long ago and that was traditional style, so I guess I do both now, and love different things about both. I don't have an art background per say but I did love to draw when I was a teenager, haven't done it in years!!!! But SBing is a great creative outlet for me though.

Thanks everyone for your beautiful comments, I am glad I shared them. I know a lot of people are thinking of doing some digital scrapbooks so I thought I could give you some inspiration to get going :)

I just got Photoshop CS adn can't wait to try it. YOur layouts are awesome. I too, never thought I cared about digital scrapping, but your pages are amazing. I have a question though, what do you do with the scrapbook once you've created it? Do you print it or just keep it electronically?

Christina,

I print my layouts on really nice photo paper and I place them in an album. It doesn't have the same bulkiness as a traditional one, but I think it still looks great!

Good luck with Photoshop!!! :cool1:

What size do you print them? That was the main thing that confused me was if you print them, you can't print 12x12 can you?

Christina,

So far I have only printed for my 8 x 8 albums but I also have an oversize photo printer so I can print up to 13 x 19 I believe. The 12 x 12 paper is rather expensive so I haven't done that yet, maybe one day though.

christinadei,
Are there other ways you will be using this software other than scrapping?

Well the reason I got the software was to edit photos. I love taking pictures and would love to be able to edit them. I've always wanted it and just recently bought it. I haven't even loaded it on the computer yet. I can't wait to do the B&W and Sepia pictures with hints of color. I don't have much spare time I'm always at work or school or if not that, cooking, cleaning, taking care of DS. So yeah, I don't have much time to scrapbook either. :rotfl:

Great layouts!! I love them as usual. So, do you print the layouts out and put them in an album or do you just keep them online? Just wondering how they look printed out?

Thanks,
Tina

Tina,

I have printed several of my digital layouts and they look great! Like I said in the other post, they are flat, not bulky like the traditional ones, but I still think they look great!

Right now I am doing my 2003 RCCL cruise digitally and will be printing them all out in 8 x 8 format and putting them in an album.

Timon,

Your layouts are absolutely beautiful! I am amazed at your talent! Please keep these gorgeous pictures coming....

Great work, as always! I love your backgrounds and elements. Where do you get yours? I have been downloading free kits but have yet to buy any. Or do you make your own? I use PictureIt and just ordered DIP. I don't feel comfortable using PSP or PSE or PS so I am sticking with the basics.

For others, try www.digitalscrapbookplace.com for some great free tutorials on how to get started digi-scrapping.

I love being able to do both... I'm bi-scrapual LOL
