I have to say that I learned something new this year. I finally went to redeem my digital copy of something this past week, now over the course of the past year year and a half Ive been buying lots of those bllu ray sets with digital copies but since i dont ever watch anything on my laptop i havent bothered to redeem them ( i also thought the file was right on those discs as well. )

Well as i've learned this week, most of them last about a year and THATS IT. If you dont redeem it you lose it. This doesnt make any sense to me, if you paid for something that you can still obviously get at the itunes store, why cant i get it now a year later as opposed to when I bought it. Its just annoying. Ive gone on a crazy redeem binge this week with everything ive bought inthe last few months but now im going back to last years holidays to see what happens.

So in case anyone didnt know this, fyi!! REDEEM THEM !!!

I never thought about that.. thanks for the heads up! guess I should go back and check to see what I have!!

I think there is a general misunderstanding about what we're buying when we buy DVDs, Blu-ray discs, and for that matter, practically any digital content. We're buying license to view (or listen [MP3s] or read [e-books]). We're not actually buying ownership of anything durable, even though we sometimes get the digital content we buy on physical media (discs).

This conversion from buying durable ownership to buying licenses is going to take a long time to get used to, I think.
