I am shopping around for a new digital camera. I am not a professional photographer or anything like that, just looking for a nice, easy to use(but good quality!) camera to take pictures of friends, vacations, family...everyday kinda things. So i just wanted to throw the question out there and see what kind of cameras everyone had and ask what you love about it or don't love....

I love my canon...I've had it a few years I think its only 4 megapix...but takes great pix. It is a little heavier and bigger than some that I've seen, but I wouldn't trade it!! It is a very high quality camera. I think it's an m2 or something like that. I think it was about $450 when I bought it and now you can buy it for like $150!

here it is... ok maybe not $150...but not bad...

Canon S2 IS. LOVE IT! Can't say enough good things about it. There is a newer version (S3) that is also getting great reviews. You might check out the photography board. There are a lot of very nice people over there that can help you out.

I recently bought a Nikon L1. It's 6.2 megapixel, 5x optical zoom, takes two AA batteries, and SD memory cards. It also has a sports mode, and a fireworks mode, plus many others. I paid $250 for it... but when I was in Circuit City on Sat or Sun it was on clearence for $200. I love it. I recently went to a car show and we took over 200 pics on my Radio Shack AA rechargables.

Here's Circuit City's website on it... if you are interested, I would check the store ASAP before it sells out and to make sure it is $200 in your area.

Edit:

Sorry, here are a couple of pix that I took at the car show. If you want to see more, I have like 250 pics I took that day, so I can send you more.

make sure that you get a view finder. That is the newest thing with the digital cameras, it makes taking a picture in the sun light soooo much easier. You are supposed to take an outside photo with the sun to your back, but if the sun is shining on your digital screen how the heck are you supposed to get a good shot. This is where the view finder comes in handy. Also, you can turn off that digital screen and save a heck of a lot of battery juice. That is what takes up all the juice any. I never have my screen on anymore.

I have a Canon A 520. I just got it recently for my birthday, but it worked great for my Disneyland photos. Easy to use, fairly light as cameras go.

My husband and I just bought the Canon Powershot A530. It has a lot of neat features on it that are fun to play around with. We finally bought digital because I was tired of developing film with only about 5 good pictures out of the entire roll. We paid $200 for it at Best Buy but I think you can get it cheaper online.

I have a Kodak Easyshare z760 6.1mp, I found it at Walmart for $186 I think, but this was almost a year ago so it may be even less now. I love it, many modes that help you get the right shot, decent video and clear shots.

Here are a few photos I took recently that I was uploading, I used the z760 for these.

Just some examples. Hope you find the perfect camera. Oh a good thing about the z760 is you can change lens, etc. It's upgradable which I liked. It also has a built in battery and even after doing WDW all day and shooting tons of photos, etc never have I even had a low battery.

I loved my Kodak Easyshare... very simple to use and took great pictures.

I had a Kodak 6330 - used it till it wore out!
Then we upgraded to another Kodak - dont remember the number. We had it about a month when we went on a trip into San Francisco with friends and they had a Kodak P850. I used it to take pix of them and fell in love with it. Sam's Club let me exchange mine and pay the difference!

The key to this camera is the image stabilizer. You might have a shaky hand, but the camera adjusts for it. It has all the Kodak "easy share" features (like fireworks setting, macro, portrait, sport, etc) and 12x optical zoom.

It's a bit more money, but we have loved it!!

Here is a link to our photos. Dabs Pictures Anything dated after March should be from P850.

**But, to take great fireworks pix, you will need a tripod. :thumbsup2

Happy Shopping!

I am pleased with the Canons that I have purchased (3 this year - my daughters got them for their big gifts this year). The Canon S2 IS is great if you don't mind a bigger camera in order to get a stronger zoom. For small, flat camera we have a Canon SD450 and a Canon A530.

I bought my first digital camera almost a year ago, and my needs were the same as yours. I decided to go w/ a Canon - b/c the general consensus seemed to be that Canon made good quality cameras. I bought the SD500 and I have no complaints so far! It's small, so I always have it in my purse. The image quality is terrific. I recently enlarged a photo of my kids to 8X10 and it looks super. I like the "my colors" feature, where you can accent one color in the photo, and leave everything else black and white. PC Magazine had it as their "editor's choice" camera, but now I believe their top pic is the newer SD550. Good luck!

I've got the Canon powershot A620 and I love it. It has all kinds of different settings, and it's not too expensive.

It seems that the majority of people are rooting for their canons, so I think I will check them out. Thanks to those of you who posted some of the shots that you have taken with your cam's!! :thumbsup2
