Digital camera?

Hi,

I'm after a digital camera. Doesn't have to be too special beyond a) a high resolution (12MP minimum) and b) reliable and likely to last a while. Any suggestions of an alternative?

You might have better luck w/your request on the Photography board, as they are very helpful w/all questions related to videos/photography.

We love our Cannon Powershot SX10. Haven't found a thing I don't like about it.

Try the photography board.

I will say, however, that megapixels are the most over-rated statistic in photography today. You know all of those famous old photos in museums? Not 14 megapixels. Not even close. If you are printing wall sized murals you don't "need" even half of the MPs available today on the market. It's mostly marketing, not reality or necessity.

as pp just said, 12+ megapixels is very unneed unless you are a pro shooter, I shot a sony a330 which is 10 mp and get great great results

in fact if you go 12+ it may even make your pictures worse by bringing out flaws

I just bought a sony TX7. The only thing I'm nervous about is battery life, but I've seen some great pictures taken with it. I was hoping for more than 4x zoom....but I went with this for the panoramic pictures, size and picture quality.

The high MP count is necessary as do a lot of cropping, but I would settle for 10MP thanks for the comments.
