I have just (yesterday) discovered the wonders of a digital camera. (I know I am some what behind the times) Anyway, I have a 128 mb SD card and a 248 mb SD card. They will hold approx. 320 pictures. If I need to transfer the pictures in order to clear my cards and take more pictures, where can I do it in Disney and how much will it cost? How much will it cost in Disney to make picture copies? At our local Wal-Mart it cost 34 cents per 4 X 6 picture. We are staying on site with no car. We leave tomorrow for our trip!!!!!!! HELP PLEASE!

Consider adjusting the resolution of your camera. My camera can shoot up to 3.1 MP, but I rarely shoot anything above 2 MP and can squeeze 400+ photos on a 256Mb xD Picture card. I spent a week in Germany in early May with 2-256Mb and 1-16 Mb card and didn't come close to running out of space.
If you are planning on printing 4x6 photos with the images, you certainly don't need anything greater than 2 MP. The photos still come out brilliant and sharp -- I have certainly fallen in love with the convenience of digital photography.

Thanks. That really helps! In case I do need more pics does anyone know where I can get them copied or printed at and for how much? (INSIDE DISNEY)

Hi,

I hope you haven't left yet but here is a
link to another thread about having a photo
cd made in the parks. Good Luck.

Photo CD's

Thank you for posting that question ... and for those who posted answers! Strangely enough, DH was just discussing this over morning coffee and I said "I'll check 'The Dis' b/c I know someone will have an answer!" Sure enough ... you folks never fail to have all the information that people need!

Thanks for your services!

I never understand paying to get the cards downloaded at Disney or anywhere else. I think it goes for about $12 a time and there aren't many places where it can be done anyway at Disney. The memory cards have come down in price big time from three years ago. I would think about how many pictures I want to take and get the cards to match it. This will keep haunting you on any vacation and I don't want to even spend the time finding a place that can download each and every time. Lower resolution as mentioned above is a good idea, too to get more pics per card. I like making DVDs and for us that's not a real good option because it hurts the results on larger TV sets.

If you have a notebook I would consider doing your own downloading and bring it with you if you don't want to buy more cards.

We usually just have a quick CD burned when we run out of space on our card. There's a Walgreens not too far from WDW and they are usually quick. In the past, I've brought a laptop and uploaded at the end of each day.

This may be a little out of left field, but if you or anyone in your family owns an iPod, it can be used as a storage device for your digital photos. Belkin makes a "digital media reader" that lets you download your photos onto the iPod. It's almost as easy as swapping out memory cards, and it may be cheaper than buying more memory (depending on how much you'll need) -- the iPod has gigabytes of storage and it's smaller than a laptop.

WHen the drug store makes a CD, does it just "copy" the photos or do they resize the images downward for space? Probably a dumb question, but I've never done it before.

here is a suggestion: you can buy a used, no frills, once the top of the heap laptop for around $300. All you need is a fast enough processor (check the specs of the camera you have) or a card reader (once again check the specs). Give yourself at least a 2 to 4 gig Hard Drive, and only use the machine for pictures and internet while traveling and that will fill the bill. Check classifieds, especially around a college town- also call computer repair shops to see what they have there (sometimes people will not want to spend $200 for yesterdays laptop, and you can get it for the cost of the repair bill).

Hope that provides an alternative...

Hi TexasAggie! WHOOP!

I found out from a man who works at Wolf Camera that he just came back from DisneyWorld and he believes EPCOT has a Kodak center that can transfer onto a disc for you. He did say that it was a bit pricey. He "believes" (so don't quote me on this) that it was around $30 to do so. You will have to leave your memory stick/card with them.

I went ahead and bought another one so I could just have them all with me. Someone just wrote in another thread that they had someone at Disney put their pictures on a disc and, when they got home, discovered the disc was empty! No pictures. YIKES!

Hope this helps!

Have a magical day!

Does your camera have a tiny screen on it? What I do is every night back at the hotel, hubby and I review the images we took that day. We delete any we know we won't want (there are usually a lot of stinkers compared to how many really good keeprs), and can clear off enough space to start again the next day.

Making a photo CD sounds like a good idea, as well. It sounds like they overcharge, but it is a really handy way to store your photos, whether home or on vacation.
