Is there somewhere on site where we can take the flash thingy out of our camera and put it on a cd? I'm sure we'll be taking a ton of pictures and can't afford to buy a big enough flash card.

You would be better off to buy several memory cards before you get to WDW. Memory cards are not expensive and would be cheaper that getting your images burned to CD at WDW.

Be sure if you decide to get a CD with your images that the images are on the CD before you delete them from your memory card.

What kind of memory do you need (what brand and model camera)?

Check places like spoofee.com and techbargains.com You can frequently get memory for cheap after rebate. Almost any of the one hour photo places will burn to CD (around $5 by me) BUT I agree with safetymom, the places in Disney are probably too expensive.

We had borrowed a digital from my brother. We were almost "finished" with the memory and ended up going to one of the stores at the Contemporary (BVG possibly) and putting those photos of a cd and "starting fresh". It wasn't terribly expensive and gave us an opportunity to take even more photos!

I've heard that you can get your images burned onto a CD for about $12 in WDW. What my husband and I did the last time we went down (since it was for 11 days) was bring our two memory cards and our little laptop. Each night we would download the pictures from the memory cards onto the laptop.

Another option if you have a portable disk based MP3 player would be to see if it has the option to download photos to it. I don't know which others offer this, but Apple's iPod with the docking station has an accessory for $99.00 that will allow you to download images.

This is _not_ cost effective if you don't have a disk based MP3 player, but if you do, this might be an option to consider.

I dont know if you are willing or not, but a great website for bargain memory cards is newegg.com ... in fact, they have great deals on everything electronic, and most items they ship free with fedex. I ordered a 128mb card there for $34 and had it 2 days later. Ebay also has some great deals. This option may be more expensive than having your pictures burned to a cd while in the World, but you can hold approximately 400 pictures on the card at a time, so it definitely is a viable option. Enjoy your trip!

You can go to the Kodak store at Epcot by Honey I shrunk the audience and Figment. My DH has done this on a couple of occasions, when we had problems with our laptop. It is a bit pricey. It depends on how many pic's you want to copy. I believe my DH copied 350 (he took down 3 memory cards with more than enough room, but he is a picture freak!).

Yes, you can download memory cards at WDW. Only out of desperation was I forced to download mine during our trip in Dec.

I only know of 2, the camera shop, just inside the gate of MK to the right. The second one is somewhere at EPCOT.

Look for a small Kodak kiosk inside or ask a CM. BEWARE! - the PC in the thing is ancient. It took me almost an hour to down load 100 pics and burn them onto a CD. And it cost me $16.00.

After that I found a little Walgreen's store down the steet that did it in under 5 minutes and only cost $5.00.

Get an extra memory card before leaving home, I won't make that mistake again.pirate:

BigDisneyKids---- How much memory is enough for a trip to Disney? I am so new to Digital photography and am looking forward to using it at Disney, but I am afraid I'll run out of Memory for the camera. How much do I need for a 7 day vacation?

Thanks

Just be careful with burning your images to CD at Disney. There have been multiple posts on this board of people who get home and there are NO pictures on the CD!!!!! Just a warning. I never personally used the system but I would be heartbroken.

I took for our last trip 4 memory cards. (2) 64 MB's and (2) 16 MB's. I think that gave me close to 400 pics (???). Either way I came home with almost 300 pics and some memory left. I have since bought another 64MB card and will now just take the 3 larger cards I have. I initially bought a few small ones off EBAY. Under $12.00. The problem being they only held about 30 pics. But they were each better than not enough memory. I know my camera takes the XD cards. Office Max has had these on sale like crazy lately. They have had the 64MB card for $29.99. Not the biggest card, but defintely a decent amount. Really depends on if you take the sticks or XD cards.

If you can afford it get the sony mvc cd-350. This camera does not use cards or film, but records on to mini cd's. I was able to take over 200 pics on one cd and it still was not filled up. You can get a pack of 10 black mini cd's for about 8.00 at comp usa. This is so cool. We got the camera back in October after we booked our trip for April and are in total love with it. Can't wait to take those pics.::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo pirate: ::yes:: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :wave2: :yo-yo:

krissy3483,

Could you tell me if got the 128mb card from newegg was an xd card? I looked but couldn't find anything at $34 and would really love to get one at that price.

If anyone knows of where to get one for around $40 please let me know. :D

Thanks and Aloha! :earsgirl:

GONETODISNEY--Sorry for taking so long.

Over a 10 day period we shot about 250 pics (figure at least a roll of 24 per day). We took grandparents and took a little more than usual.

We have a Canon S30, with a 128mb card. I think I dumped it twice while I was there.

If you have a 128mb card, I would suggest another 256mb as a spare. You can get them at Costco or BJ's, etc... for under $70.00. FYI... At the camera shop at MK, a 128mb card was over $100.

Good luck!!! pirate:

1600x1200 (2MegaPixel) on a 128MB card has room for 256 pictures. Printing that resolution shouldn't go bigger than 5x7.

same card but 640x480 has room for over 1300 pictures but shouldn't be printed bigger than 4x6.

I use two 128MB cards with my Olympus Camedia C-2100. I take my laptop and download each night.

No, Mara61 - your husband is not a picture freak.
On our vacation last year my dh took 4700 photos.
He says the Sony CD based camera makes a lot of sense if you have the option. The CD costs around $.50 and stores about 200 photos.
You can shoot and store on a permanent system.
We sold that camera and bought the Canon EOS Rebel - can't do that now.
Either way, we always take the camera and load the pics onto the laptop every night.

For the original poster of this thread .....

Make sure you understand the type of camera you have and the size of files you will be saving. I have a 3 megapixel camera and like to save pictures at their highest quality so I can do as much with them as possible when I get home. At the highest resolution, I can get 80 pics on a 128mg card. At mid resolution, I can get 145 and over 200 with the lowest. However, I would not recommend that resolution.

I agree that a laptop or ipod or storage device is best. If you get all the pics transfered to a cd then you get the good the bad and the ugly. One of the best things about digital photography is you get more control over the pictures. No need to throw away bad prints!

There are a lot of deals on the internet and at local Compusa/bestuy, etc for cards right now. Oh, Also make sure you know what type of card the camera takes as well. They are not all the same
