Hi All,
I am new to the board, I have been reading and have gotten lots of great advise... Thank you... (Just wish I would of found it before my first 2 trips...)After lots of research and reading, I have finally booked our 20th anniversary vacation for Sept 26 - Oct 6 at Pops  We are so excited.
My DH wanted to know if there is any place in WD to download the memory cards from our digital cameras? I am sure this question has already been asked but I could not find the answer. Sorry... :confused3

I'm honestly not sure, but if there is its going to require a cd writer or more likely, a dvd writer, so that you can transport the pics after downloading. Generally a memory cards worth of pics wont be able to be transferred via the internet except for very slowly, even then, where would it go to?

I use a laptop to handle this problem, but an ipod could be another option. It may be easiest to just buy another mem card if you dont have either, they're relatively inexpensive now.

Thanks EnnEss, I do have an Ipod, but I guess my next option would be going someplace like Walgreens and have it professonially done. I will Google a search for a Walgreens or CVS.... Thanks again

You can do it at WDW in the camera shops, but it is much more expensive than somewhere like Walmart. If you have a car, I would plan a trip there in the middle of your trip.

Memory cards have gotten so cheap I just bought another one. I did take the time while in DW to just get rid of some of the bad pics freeing up space.

What about your camera (and video cameras) when you're on a ride?

What do you do with them? Take them with you or what?

I have no idea what the rides are like but I'm sure that some of them my youngest won't be able to ride on BUT there are rides that all 5 of us will be able to enjoy at the same time right? We've got kids aged 9, 6, and 2 going.so what do we do with our cameras then?

We got an extra memory card too. :thumbsup2

We usually take a backpack and put our camera and camcorder in that while we ride - don't want to leave those in the stroller! We put them in a ziploc bag first. We did that on Kali and then put them in the backpack, then the whole thing in the compartment on the ride and I was amazed - nothing got wet!

do all the rides have somewhere that you can stick a backpack while riding? :confused3

I have no clue what to expect when we get there, as far as rides, etc. go.

by the way, that was me above you asking the question didn't realize I wasn't logged in! :rolleyes2

Rides like Splash don't have places to put your bag, but I keep a ziploc bag in my bag and put my camera inside that, then inside the bag when I got on wet rides.

Other rides, I just loop the bag around my foot and I'm good to go...even on RnRC and Space Mountain.

On Kali, I bring a few extra $1 ponchos and wrap my bag in that before I put it in the center compartment...just as a precautionary.

I forgot to say, I would just go buy an additional memory card, rather than paying to download...cards are so cheap now days.

I have attempted to download my memory cards at MK but it was always so backed up that I didn't want to wait. I also keep extra cards with me now because of this. There is a Walgreen nearby if you go outside the grounds near Downtown Disney. As you are exiting the park, you just take a left & it's probably not a mile down the road. I have gone there & they have quick service.

I second the buy an extra memcard. I have 2 512MB 2 256Mb and a 64 and i'm still worried about not having enough.....

LOL

We drove to a Walgreens. There is one out on 192, just west of WDW. If you're fortunate to have transportaion, I think it was $2.99 per CD.

If you have an ipod you can get an ipod camera connector and transfer your photos to your ipod.

Archos is the way tto go!!!! We bought an AV500 with 60GB of memory and im lead to believe thats 60,000 photos or 250 hours of video and 30,000 songs that can be stored and viewed on its 5 inch screen. Multimedia dont you just love it and small enough to put in your pocket. Laptop pah!
