I believe I read somewhere that there are places you can download your images in order to clear your memory card if you run out of space. I can't find it anywhere now. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, where can this be done? And how much does it cost?

Sorry I don't know where they are or what it costs but in previous posts people have stated their concerns about the CM's inability to work the machinery. Just be carefull that they do not lose your pictures...good luck and have a good time. :cool1:

We had it done at the camera shop at MGM. Cost was about $12.

I don't know about the MGM photo shop but the Photo Center in the MK is self serve. Just put your memory card in the appropriate slot and follow the directions on the touch screen. The machine will give you proof sheets with 42 thumbnail pictures per sheet and a CD [or multiple CDs if neccessary] and print out a receipt with the price for your download and a bar code that is scanned at any of the check out locations where you pay for the download.

It is a fairly simple procedure but there are several options available so be sure you read the screen carefully before you make your selections.

Seems to me like it may be worthwhile(convenience and cost wise) to just buy additional memory.

Prices really arent that bad.

I think it is better to bring a couple memory cards and if you have a laptop bring it and download at night. Then the cards will be free for the next day.
This is what I did on my trip.

I took alot of pics (1100) and went through 3 128mb stick.
We had a laptop to dump to, but even if we hadnt, it owul dhave been cheaper to buy extra stick than to have the pics dumped at the parks.

The camera shops in all of the parks will burn your pictures to CD to help free up your camera memory. I think the charge is about $12 and they can only put 120 pictures per CD. I prefer to take enough memory cards for the entire trip and burn my pictures when I get home.

luv2playallday, the "memory sticks" are just memory cards used by Sony products. The are rectagular in shape instead of square. Sony calls them "memory stick" instead of "memory card". They come in the same size increments as the memory cards used by the other brands of digital camera.

Just remember to make hard copies of your photos after downloading them to a laptop or a PC. One of my co-workers does computer work on the side, and he's had 2 people who recently had their hard drive "die" and they lost all of their photos because the only copy they had was on the machine (one woman lost all of the photos she took of her 6 month old - ALL OF THEM.) The hard drives were even sent to a company - at a large cost - to try to retrieve the photos from the hard drive, but it couldn't be done.

I heard that one poster had their pictures put on a CD while at the park, and when they got home, the CD was blank. :sad2:
