The search function is not working and I've gone back quite a few pages but I can't find any helpful threads.

My daughter is in a hurry to buy a digital camera.
She wants something fairly small, easy to operate, and not too expensive.
It's just for regular everyday picture taking, we don't need to make 8 x 10 photos or anything like that.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!

First, the required two website links...

http://www.dpreview.com (more specifically, http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare.asp ) and http://www.steves-digicams.com

Those are the two sites pretty much recommended to everyone as far as reviews, etc.

My recommendations, given what you've mentioned, would be either the Kodak LS443 or the Canon PowerShot S230, but there's a lot of other variables to be considered -- like how much zoom does she want/need, what type of storage does she want, does she want the ability to take movies, etc.

Thanks for replying Steve, I'll check out the websites and do some research.
As far as what she wants or needs, I don't think she needs much zoom (?), she doesn't need to take videos, and she probably wants more storage, which is an extra she would have to purchase, right?

She's in a hurry to buy the camera for a special occasion in a couple of days. I wish that wasn't the case, but it is.
She somehow lost our regular camera over the weekend.
It had pictures in it from my husband's trip to Westlake, Ohio a couple of weeks ago! :(
Thanks for your help!

Have her go to somewhere like Best Buy or Circuit City and try out a few different cameras to see what she likes. Mostly, it'll be a feel kind of thing -- figuring out what size, style and features she likes. You can't go wrong with brands like Kodak, Nikon and Canon (I've had a Kodak and loved it and now have a Nikon and like that one too).

Yes, she'll have to buy extra memory for sure -- unfortunately, that would have been cheaper to buy online than in a store, but memory isn't too expensive these days in general.

OT, but why was your DH in Westlake? That's just down the road from me. :)

I'm about to purchase a Canon s45 powershot... I plan to get it on ebay as most auctions end about $200-$300 less than electronic stores.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the camera information. I'll let you know what she ends up with.
My husband was in Westlake visiting his brothers. He used to live in Lakewood, his family had a beautiful house on the lake.
He golfed at some nice courses while he was there. He ate in a great Italian restaurant but I can't remember the name of it. Something De Napoli maybe?
I visited Cleveland a few years ago and really loved it.
It's become a great city! Almost as nice as Boston!
Thanks again!
