Difficulty obtaining PSs for an unexpected trip?

I know we started late because this was an unexpected trip. The last two years we were prepared on the 120 and 60 day marks to make phone calls. But does anybody have any idea why it has been so hard to get a PS at Chef Mickeys or 1600 Park Faire before 8:00pm from 4/29 until 5/4? One of the problems might be we have a party of 10 but have said we were willing to split up but even that does not seem to help. Is there any chance we could get seated if we just show up when the restaurant opens for that particular evening? I know there are a lot of people from the boards going but the last two years we were at WDW at this time and the parks were not crowded, the longest wait was to see Ariel (25 min) in two years. Thanks for any ideas or thoughts.

This reminds me of what happened to us last year around the same time. I did a search and found a thread about it:

Times for Chef Mickey's

Hope this works for you, too! :D

I find the early seating is getting hard to get at Chef Mickey's. We were there in January for a week and didn't think it would be hard during a very slow time, but could not get in before 8:00 on any night during the week. So as we plan our July trip for our grandson, I called 120 days exactly and got a 5:00 seating for July 23. I won't be caught off-guard again. We will be there in May during your time, but do not do Chef Mickey's unless our grandson is with us. Good luck, but not sure why this is happening, other than it's going to be busy.

hi there!
that is great you have an unexpected trip! :)

my advice... keep trying!
I had a client that wanted breakfast at Chef Mickeys, a party of 5, all I could get a couple months prior was 10am, I tried and tried, but never anything earlier. til about 3 dasy before they were going I tried again, and all of a sudden Chef Mickeys had every time slot imaginable open!!!!!! I booked an 8:45am ps for them :)

keep trying!!! :)

I dont know about walking in with 10 people, but you can try.

have a back up plan though.

Laura :)

The Times for Chef Mickeys thread is very interesting. I think we will keep trying also. Thanks for the support.

We tried to get PS's at Chef Mickey's last wednesday (4/9) but could not. Since that's exactly where we wanted to eat, we just showed up at about 6:45 (all 9 of us!) and were seated within 10 minutes at a great table.

Of course I'm sure there are a thousand horror stories to counter this.

Thanks, mattlm, you give me hope. The kids would love to have dinner at Chef Mickeys our first night.
