Anyone else experience this? It's driving me crazy! It's like a need to yawn or take a deep breath - but just can't do it!

It sounds like pleurisy to me. Google that and see if it matches your other symtoms.

Yup. happens to me every month, always a week before my period. I have had every test to rule out lung and heart problems. The doctor thinks its anxiety related to PMS. Oddly enough I don't feel anxious when its happening, but I guess the hormones are just out of whack.

I'd see a doctor just to rule out anything serious.

I have had this same thing happen as well. I never can pinpoint when/why, but was told the one time I saw my GP that is was stress related, and the more I thought about it, the worse it would get. He said to just try to ignore it (Easier said then done!). I have found that if I continue to force deep breaths for a long period of time, I will get stabbing pain the bottom of my lungs. Very strange.

Me too. I actually feel it a lot in my back too.

I've learned to live with it. The doctor did give me Xanax tot ake during that time of the month. It does help, but unfortunately it makes me very sleepy.

Somtimes when I can't take deep breathes is is from muscle spasms around the ribheads in my back. It can take me a little bit to work through it.

I was told it was stress related and a symptom of anxiety.
Of course I have this huge fear about having trouble breathing so i tend to make it worse and have a little panic attack.

Try taking a decongestant. It is allergy season and you may just have some extra phlegm. Works for me. This happens to me in the spring and fall, so I am pretty sure it is related to gunk in the air.

wow, I would never have thought so many other people have this problem too!! happens to me frequently. I went to several doctors to get it diagnosed, was finally told that I was hyperventilating due to stress.....

good luck, mine always just kind of went away on its own

Is it in your lungs or down by the bottom of your ribs? If it is by your ribs, it is a muscle spasm in your diaphragm that will go away on it's own--I hate getting this too. If it is in your lungs you should see a doctor.

Yes, ocassionally - has been attributed to anxiety.

When I have that trouble it's related to my asthma.

It is NOT a good feeling!

I get this way every now and then and figured it was just stress related. The more I try to take in a deep breath, the more I can't do it. I can't get my lungs to fully expand. :confused3 I'm glad it doesn't happen all the time!

The weirdest part for me is that it happens when I am sitting around doing nothing whether it is watching tv, sitting at the computer, or sitting in class.
It rarely happens when I am doing anything strenuous.

It happens to me too, and anxiety makes it worse. It happened a lot to me while I was PG, and I attributed some of the problem to the extra weight I was carrying around.

It usually goes away after a good night's sleep.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Count me in too.. Never really took notice of "when" it happens though.. Interesting to know it could be stress-related..

Yes, it's been going on with me for years--actually shortly after my first child was born!!!

I have been through all kinds of testing and, initially, was told it was anxiety.

Over the years I have had it "kick up" more. Sometimes it is anxiety (sort of happens a few days after I've been stressed) but more and more, I'm noticing that it comes along with my acid reflux. Sometimes after eating or drinking, that will set it off. I usually try to eat better for the next few days and then it goes away.

Yes...this is exactly what happens! The more I try - the worse it gets!! If I have to yawn...it just won't happen. I don't ever experience any pain along with it though. I'm thinking that it probably is stress related.
