Difficult ordering cakes from Pat at GF

Simply be patient and wait, as sometimes they are "slammed" with requests.
 
Is it for the trip in 5 months? She may have more immediate requests she is prioritizing ahead of yours. Personally, I would wait until a bit closer to the trip. GL!

She would not know when my trip is. I have ordered cakes several times and always order early without a problem. I still haven't received a return call.

Ah, ok. When I have called, I have left details in message to facilitate. I do know my DH tried to order a birthday cake for me via Pat and gave up when she made it exceedingly difficult.

Have you asked in the cake chatter thread? Maybe something else is going on.
 
Last trip, I was going to order a cake through the GF. I can't remember how many days went by without her returning my call...maybe 4 or 5. I gave up and decided to add a cake to one of our meals at the Contemporary. Of course, Pat called the next day (I had left a follow up msg to tell her we were no longer interested). Best bet is to just keep calling if you're set on a cake through the GF.

1) She is one person.
2) There can be lots and lots of calls.
3) Sometimes, delays are inevitable.
4) At least you did get a return call prior to your event/ADR.

They should get her some help. You are right, if only one person handles this there are delays. That is a lot of pressure for anyone.

Exactly- @Mike&AllisMom . A lot of people dread working with the GF bakery because you never know "which Pat" you're going to get, but stories of above average delays are on the rise. Now, I expect delays when I'm reaching out directly to the chefs at the Contemporary bakery, but again...that's communication with the chefs. When you call the cake/private dining lines at the various resorts, even the home resorts to the bakeries, direct contact or call back is typically same day or next day since this is not the chef. I've wondered for some time if the negative attitude many get from Pat is a result of her being overwhelmed with cake calls, but the call back delays make this seem like the real reason. Still, rather than excuse a decline in service due to elevated volumes...they should just admit that she could use some help and do something about it.

3) Unless the phone people are ALWAYS busy, it does not pay for WDW to add assistants.
4) WDW does not like people to be idle for parts of the day.
5) Unless they are Front Desk or Concierge waiting for bus loads of DME guests.
6) Unfortunately, the way it is at Disney today.

I was transferred over to Pat yesterday. She answered the phone and I placed my order for next month at 1900 PF. She was very helpful. She didn't Rush me off the phone or anything like that.she seemed very nice & professional.

I was able to connect with her and she was nice. My problem was getting anyone to answer the phone or return my call. I'm glad you had an easier time.
 
I wonder if there are multiple people but they all call themsleves Pat? :magnify:
