The last time we were at Sea World (July 2007) counter service dining was a complete nightmare. Long queues, no tables etc.

Any experiences of this? Is it better to book table service and if so what would you recommend?

Many thanks

My daughter and I tried a dinner dining package with the night time Shamu Rocks show. We had buffet and were escorted to prime seats without waiting.

The buffet was better than some of the Disney meals at a better price. At the end, our server filled a cup of treats for my daughter to take to the show and filled my beer cup.

The meal was served behind the stadium where the animals are trained. You could even see part of a show in progress while eating. I was surprised and it was the best part of our day.

If you are looking for counter service, it's important to plan to eat during an off time. Saturday, I ate at 11am at The Terrace which is the old AB Hospitality Center and there was a 5 minute wait.

Yes...that's the Dine with Shamu experience. On Saturday it was offered at 12:30, 3:30 and 6pm. The map doesn't have the cost but the Information Counter can set it up for you.
