Differently Configured Units within the Same Booking Category?

Can anyone tell me about different villa configurations within the same booking category at the same resort (not across resorts - I realize there are major differences between resorts)? For example, I was just reading a thread where it sounded like there are differently sized (or differently laid out?) 1-BR standard villas at BWV. I was surprised -- I had assumed they would all be the same. Are there differences at other resorts too? Come to think of it, I do know that at BLT the units on the outside of the curve are slightly larger than those on the inside, though I have assumed the difference was negligible. :scratchin What is the concensus: Are there differences between units (within the same booking category) at certain resports that are significant enough to warrant trying room requests? For example, the BWV thread mentioned a particular unit having larger balcony, but also a smaller shower, than other standard 1-BRs. Not sure I would make a request in that case, but some might really want that bigger balcony even if the shower were smaller. So I got to thinking that it would be interesting to find info on the various possibilities. Anyone have thoughts/comments/experiences to share? Just curious. Thanks!

PS: To clarify: I realize there are differences in potential views from various units and also of course different locations of the units (closer to elevator or main building, etc.) which might prompt requests -- I am more meaning about the actual inside/layout of the villa. Thx!!

I know some resorts have 2 bedrooms that are dedicated as a two bedrooms and some that are lockoffs (a 1 bedroom and a studio next to each other with a door between them) in that case some of the room on the studio side is taken up by the kitchenette that isn't there if it is a dedicated 2 bedroom.

Hi Kamik,
Right, I'm good with that & also things like how BCV has a booking category for 2Q beds, and that the rooms at Jambo House are different from the same category rooms at Kidani, and that OKW has the only studios with 2 beds (no pullout), etc. But, for example (and I'm pretty sure this is not the case but just to illustrate the point), if there were some 2-BR savannah view units at Kidani which were on a corner and thus had an extra set of windows/balconies, I would think people might request those units versus other mid-hallway 2-BR savannah view units at Kidani without those extra windows/balconies. KWIM?
Sorry if I'm not explaining this well. I haven't had coffee yet (and it's 10am!) - maybe the brain isn't quite working yet. Or maybe I'm looking for nuances that just aren't there.... (Really, with all the variety that exists already, do I need even more things to consider!? Then again, yes, I do love thinking it over and planning! :joker:) Anyway, thanks for the reply!

There are some neat corner rooms at VWL that I would love to have again. The layout is pretty distinct with a huge living room, but there are only 3? of them. I forget the numbers. Let me search.. 3519/4519/5519.

I've tried to figure out more details about the BLT differences. I posted this in a BLT thread a while back (before our stay there last summer):

Yeah I could see that the inside rooms were straight in that sense. I found these portions of some blue-print-type floor plans that I'm assuming are pretty much to scale. These are both 2BR dedicated villas with an outside facing room on top and an inside facing room on the bottom. Don't worry about the narrow hall, I've just mashed up two rooms together for comparison sake.

The first thing I noticed is that the laundry and coat closet in the outside room are separated (blue areas), while in the inside room they are combined. Is this accurate?

Then I tried to compare the main living areas (red areas), and to me the flare of the outside rooms appear to have a bit more room than the inside rooms. This may probably not be noticeable when looking at them in real life - I haven't seen any of the actual rooms myself.

Since my stay, I can verify that the outside villa layout depicted in the floor plan above is accurate. The laudry and closet are separate (blue areas), but I still haven't seen the inner-facing room to verify that layout.

I can also verify that the living room in the outside room "feels" very roomy.

If you think about the shape and design of the different resorts, there has to be different room layouts. HC rooms are a major difference, some rooms don't have balconies or they are different sizes, or solid walls that block your view. CL at Jambo has the some of the worst views IMO and the rooms feel smaller to me.

We stayed in the VWL villa 5519 which is a large, lake view 1 bedroom. It was awesome - so spacious. It had extra room in the living area.

We have also stayed in an outer rim and inner rim dedicated 2 bedroom at BLT. The outer rim room was so much more spacious in the living area than the inner rim room. There was a noticeable difference in space in those two villas.

There is a difference in 1 BRs at BWV. We have stayed in both layouts. There are 4 corner units, x123, that are larger and have an open kitchen with table/chairs (no counter). They also have an enormous wrap around balcony.

There are different configurations for the 2BR (with 2Q beds in 2nd BR) at BCV. (we are BCV owners).

One of them has the entrance to the 2nd BR off the foyer area, when you first come into the unit. The other one has that door in the back of the living room, near the back wall.

We used to ask for the first type, because with 4 kids, we USED the pullout couch each night. When that couch bed is opened up, you have to just about climb over the corner of the bed if you are passing by to the kitchen, or whatever. With the door in the foyer area, you don't have to worry about that.

Both definitely had the 2Q in that 2nd BR.

These rooms can have 2Q in the 2nd bedroom or the sofa and queen in the 2nd bedroom. They are located where the bend in the building is.

Actually there are 3, there is not one on the first floor because of the exit and the building only has 4 floors on that end. They are 2123, 3123, 4123, all dedicated 1 bedrooms.

I stayed in 3123 once, here are some pictures from 2003:

I didn't specifically request it, I had my usual request (top floor, across from the bus stop). The next trip I did specifically request these numbers and ended up at the far end of the hall next to Jellyrolls (at the time, they were standard).

There are also a few corner rooms at VB that are much larger and actually sleep more than 4 IIRC.
