Hi all. We frequent DL a couple times a year and generally follow the same plans - stay across the street at a motel on harbor, walk over, rope drop, etc etc etc. but this trip will be a little different. It’s just my DD and me this week, in town for a dance competition, and staying a little further away. Our hotel is close to the Toy Story lot so I’m hoping to utilize that, but have never done so before. If we plan to rope drop, when should we be at the lot?

Second question… on the calendar for our park day it lists “wondrous journeys with projections” at 7:30pm. I’m assuming that means without fireworks. Where is a good spot to snag to watch this? My daughter and some of her friends are really hoping to enjoy this, so we are trying to devise a plan of where to be and at what time.

Any advice appreciated! Thank you!

What dance competition is she in town for?

Disneyland parking opens at 7 am. Hopefully security is at Toy Story at that time of day. If not, it will be after you are dropped of at the parks and you will have to wait with everyone else that walked over.

If you are interested in the projection show (without fireworks), the best viewing would be at Small World. Certainly the castle gives an iconic view but it is small and crowded (even without fireworks). Small World is a large canvas. It makes it easy to see the projections and has room for many more people.

Thank you! So what would be a good time to be at the lot, if we want to be walking in DL around 745?

We are attending 24Seven at the Anaheim Marriott.

We walked to tot story lot in the morning in December for rope drop. We got there right at opening (7am) and security was there. It took about 8 minutes to go through security and get on a bus. When we got to the esplanade the gates were not open yet. We got in line and gates opened around 7:30. Had tons of time standing and waiting for rope drop. I realize there isn’t EE anymore, so I’m not sure how early the gates for Disneyland open now. But I would try to get to Toy Story lot around 7am when they open.

Edited to add: when is your trip? ART buses cease operations on March 31 and there is no official word from Disney yet if the Toy Story buses will be affected. Hopefully they will work out a plan to have something sorted out by then, but wanted to give you a heads up.
