Different ideas, instead of the standard autograph book?

Sorry, I haven't read through all of the posts. I take a matt for a photo frame. The big ones that are meant for signing and leaving messages. We take or buy some markers in lots of colors and let them sign away! Works great for a character meal, like Chef Mickey's where you get a picture.
Here's an example I found at target.com

But, I found some at the Dollar Tree in the spring. :thumbsup2
Oh! I am having a light bulb moment on this one. I am having visions of grandeur. My kids will love this. I am now planning on having at least 4 - 6 of those so we can take to Chef Mickeys, 1900 Park Faire and CRT. I could have them autographed while the kids are getting food and then frame their pictures in them and give it to them for Christmas gifts.

One year we bought both of our children nice WDW gray hoodies. We brought different colored sharpies, and the characters had a ball signing the sweatshirts. The only rule was the children could not wear them while the characters signed them. The kids got many, many autographs--the sweatshirts were simply covered with colorful and artful signatures. They wore the sweatshirts for as long as they fit, and they always got comments of them. Make sure you use new sharpies because the ink will "set" better.

Even after many years, they still are valued keepsakes.

This would be too much trouble to do for characters you see in line-ups at the parks, imho, as you'd always be frantically searching for the right page, and it'd get bent up or torn in the process of stuffing into bags and digging them back out again a dozen times, but we are doing three character meals, and I'm planning to have one sheet of acid-free paper for each expected character there, and ahead of time have my 4 yr old niece draw a picture of the character, and dictate a short letter to that character to put on the top. I'm afraid she's going to be a little shy with the characters and so although she's very very much wanting to see them, they may not really interact much with her if she won't talk to them. I'm hoping that with the brief letter from her for them to read, they'll at least respond verbally to her that way if she has a question she wants to ask them or a comment to make about their movie, or whatever, and perhaps might even write a short note back to her instead of just signing their names. I'm going to box out a corner of each page and when we get home, I'll print out pictures of her with the characters and let her attach that to each page. Then we'll have the pages bound, and that will make a great memory book for her to keep forever!

Last year my daughter drew pictures of many the characters. they all loved the drawings andsigned their page.

My kids did this last year too and got so much attention from the characters. At CRT, Belle and Snow White stood there oohing and awing over all of the pictures DD drew. My boys had drawn Woody and Buzz, but not Jessie and she made a big show of being upset over the snub and even covered one of my DS's eyes in the picture because she was "mad". It was priceless!! My boys still talk about it!! They drew pictures of characters we thought we might see and it wasn't a big deal at all to find teh right page for an autograph. We also left blank pages for characters we didn't think of.

I made my own personalised pages for each character which I then stuck in a book and had them sign.

The link to my pages are in my signature if you'd like to see them.

I also heard about someone who had the mat from a photo frame and had the characters sign that - they then put it in the frame with a photo when they got home.

My problem is what to do with the dirty stinky nasty signed cast once its off?? !! LOL ..Actually I may take pictures of the princesses signing it then she can keep the picture instead.
I think when she gets her cast of you can just discard the layer of cotton gauze that lines the cast. The cast itself shouldn't be too gross.

I agree! Clean up the outside the best you can with some Dawn dish detergent on a damp (not soaking wet) cloth. For stubborn spots, use a little Zout sprayed onto a cloth and then work it into the spot on the cast (don't spray directly onto cast). Be careful not to smudge signatures. Rip out the inside layers of gauze that are "loose". If you'd like you can use a little sandpaper to smooth out the inside and any rough edges. Have her add some Disney stickers between the autographs. Use your Sharpie and put the date somewhere. Then coat the whole thing with Mod Podge or a similar clear finish. Give it a place of honor on its own little shelf, maybe hang a collage frame of photos of her with the characters right over the shelf.

Then tell her she wins the prize for the Most Unique Autograph Collection!

(My grown daughter still has hers from High School, signed by the whole softball team the year she broke her leg sliding into first. It's like an old yearbook. Now and then, she still likes to take it out, read what everyone wrote and have a good laugh!)

I was at a NASCAR race in June. A woman was having the drivers sign 3 X 5 pieces of crosstitch fabric. She was planning on crosstiching over the signitures and making a throw or quilt.

This idea would work with character signitures, you could make a throw, quilt, wall hanging; whatever you wanted.

Iwas just curious if anyone has tried this, I am an avid cross stitcher and this would be so awesome. I would know how to do the cross stitching I am just not sure how it would all come together in making a quilt or throw, anyone have any good ideas for me. But I am really getting a bug to do this on my next trip. Any suggestions or ideas pleasse. :)

I just replied in the other post...but I printed out those pages from rosiejo and plan to take those with me on a small clipboard. If I keep them in alphabetical order it will be no problem to find the page I need. I printed them on white paper and will mount/matte them on cooresponding colored cardstock. Sort of make them look like a tag or matted photos. Then I can add them to my scrapbook pages with the pics later on.

How many will they sign at once? If my DD has a little autograoph book and a tshirt, will they sign them both and then sign one for me? I dont want to be an autograph hog, but I would like at least the princesses to sign the shirt I made so I can make it into a pillowcase later!

For DS we bought a 6x6 (?) spiral bound book with a foam cover at Walmart (craft section). The pages are white card stock. We decorated the cover with puffy fabric paint to say "DS's Autographs 2006" We got a pack of clicky Sharpie markers for them to sign with.
When DS gets home he can decorate the pages with stickers or whatever he chooses. This way we wont have a hard time trying to find the 'right page' for the character to sign.

Are you doing any breakfasts/meals?? Then you can knock out the 'multiples' that you already have in a way. Personally, in the parks, standing in line, the characters are only there so long, and I would be pretty mad if my kid missed seeing the person they wanted to see because someone in front of me was getting 3 different siggies. But that is just me. I dont mean to say that and get bashed by other posts, just really expressing my opinion on it. But at a meal or something I probably would not care, because they just circle around anyway.

I guess I see your point, but I would think if DD gets a sig. and if I get one as well that is fair. I would not mind that as a person in line, would you?

I may just bring the shirt to one of the meals we have with princesses to sign then when they have more time than they do in the parks.

One year when our kids were younger they each got a Disney Baseball and had the characters sign it. They have the baseballs on their dressers at home.

I can't believe no one has mentioned this one yet (b/c I got the idea off of these boards):

We bought the Disney Junior Encyclopedia of Characters and are going to have each character sign on their page.....

I fell in love with this idea b/c it will be a book they will look at for a very long time!!

The last time we went we bought different prints of the characters with the frame mat and had the characters sign their own pictures. We have them framed and hung in our Disney bedroom. We are going to do this again this Oct with characters we missed. Everyone that has seen them have loved them. :yay:

That is an AWESOME IDEA!!!!!!! I am going to look into that for next year!!!! I decided to actually just get t-shirts this time (because of the kids age). I got them larger then normal to use as night shirts. And they were on clearance at walmart for $3!!! :thumbsup2 I am going to get the siggie mat, and bring that to the birthday breakfast we are having at chef mickey's for my son, for all the characters to sign and hang in his room w/ a photo! This thread is awesome!! So many good ideas!!! When we go for my daughters birthday I think I will buy the princess poster and have them sign their pictures and hang it in her room, she would LOVE that!!!!
