Different credit cards for each MagicBand?

My friend and I are going to WDW in March. We are sharing a room. Can we set it up so her MagicBand is linked to her credit card and my MagicBand is linked to my credit card?

Yes. My suggestion would be to do this, then get something cheap at the gift shop, go back to the concierge and make sure it's charging correctly. Otherwise you could spend your last morning at the resort with a highlighter picking out your charges. (The time I checked, it worked, no issue, CM was all " of course it worked" the time I assumed it all went according to plan like a James Bind villain, I stood there the last morning with the highlighter.)

Wow! So glad I read this. I'm also going with a friend and just assumed that each MB would be linked to each of our respective credit cards. Never even thought there could be a problem....silly me8-)

I'll show this to my friend and we'll do just as you have suggested.

Thanks,

Karen

Just thinking, would it be the same thing/just as good, to ask when we check in if they could check our MBs to see that each is linked to the correct credit card?

You can do this on MDE. That said, I'd probably still verify at the desk.
The CC in MDE does not automatically transfer over to the resort for room charging.

During the on-line check-in process you can enter only ONE CC. This can be the one registered in MDE or you can manually enter a different one. Everyone 13 and older listed on the room reservation will automatically get room charging back to that ONE CC.

Thanks! This is good news and will make things a little easier in March.

So expanding on the question... If there are two people in one room can one person have a CC attached to their band and NOT have that CC attached to the other band for the roommate? We have a group of family in one room (no CC problem there) and two friends in the second room. One may want CC one may not???

This just happened to me - I went with 3 friends, each of us had our own Magic Band and our own credit card and PIN# associated with our respective MBs.

Last day of the trip, I got my invoice e-mailed and somehow, all of my friend's charges ended up on my credit card.

Luckily it was easy enough for her to just reimburse me, but NOT what we had expected. :/

So, pertaining to the highlighted text above............

I'm going with my friend, so I would NOT want her to be able to charge to my cc account. So, if I'm understanding this thread correctly, we can change that when we check in. In other words, what I'm asking is, do we HAVE TO choose one cc, which would be like the main card, associated with the room, that ALL the charges would go back to that one card?
In answering my own question, I'm thinking "no". We would just follow the previous advice given here and make sure that its 2 separate MBs and therefore 2 separate cc accounts for charging.......Right?? :confused3

If you complete on-line check-in and add a CC, that card will be used by default for all persons 13 and older. The front desk can setup separate cards (if desired). They can also turn off room charging by individual.

I had read that same thing before our recent trip. Our daughter is 11 and our son almost 16. We had decided that our son could do more by himself at the resort and in the parks.

My wife went to the front desk to take charging privileges off her MB. The front desk said their cutoff was 13 years old for charging privileges.

If they complete on-line check-in and add a CC, it would automatically apply to both occupants of the room. They can either visit the front desk and setup separate cards for room charging or have room charging capability turned off for one or both of them.

Absolutely go down to the front desk sometime before you check out and have them run the bill just to make sure it's working correctly. After you check out, it will be too late to fix it if they didn't set it up properly.

It's actually not "un-fixable" after you check out, but it's kind of a pain. The time it happened to me, I had to go thru the bill, highlighting my purchases (easy enough because there is the magic band name next to each charge, but time consuming.) totaled the purchases, then they refunded my friends card that amount and charged my card that amount. Your account is open I believe up until midnight of your check out day.

There has to be a main card associated to the room in case of damages and for room service (and other room but not MB associated charges). This is the same at virtually any hotel anywhere. What Disney does is that they allow you to add a second card that is associated to a specific MB.

Edit: you can always go down and settle your bill at any time as well. We frequently go down after 2 or 3 days and apply a stack of gift cards to the account.

I went last October with a friend. At check in, we set her card up with her band. We had no problems with using our MB's to charge our different CC's. Good luck!

Exactly what I'm hoping to do also.
Tondee, so if/when you did on line check in did you put your cc on file for the room?
Then just added your friends card to her band upon check in?
Seems easy enough :D

We also tried to do that last year, we thought it was all set up, but 2 nights before departure, we had to do the highlighter thing....but then for the last 2 days, it worked fine!

Yes, my card was on file. I did the online check in. At the desk, we just added my friend's card. Actually, my DH's band had my CC attached to it also. The CM had no problem setting up our 3 bands.
