Differences between resales and purchasing directly through DVC

Hello!

We're still really getting a handle on all this. In as few words as possible- but with lots of examples! - what is the difference between purchasing directly through DVC and purchasing a resale?

The biggest difference is that you will need to line up your own financing or pay cash if you go resale. If you buy through Disney, they will finance your purchase.

After you purchase, you are treated the exact same way by Disney and at the resorts while you are visiting.

Also, if there are any special incentives at the time you decide to purchase, you will only get them if you buy directly from Disney.

Also, while Disney may have points available at any of the resorts (buy backs from ROFR) they are currently selling SSR and that's what they are pushing and that is where you will get the special incentives. If you want a "sold out" resort as your home it will probably be easier to buy re-sale. Also remember, the expiration dates differ based on which resort you buy. We bought our first contract from Disney (BCV) and our second re-sale (VWL).
