Hi all! We just got off the Dream and booked a place holder cruise while onboard. This was our first cruise, and we stayed in a deluxe family room with veranda. Trying to figure out which room type to book for our next cruise....

What is the difference between the deluxe with veranda and the deluxe family with veranda??? I know the family room is a tad bigger, but where do you see the actual difference is size? Is it worth the extra money to have the extra sq ft? We are a family of 4.

Thanks in advance!

On the DCL site you are able to select 2/3 rooms and click compare and the differences will be seen. It's a very good comparison.

Which two categories are you referring to? If you are referring to the difference between a category 4 and 5 we found the difference to be significant. The 5 was a lot smaller and we felt cramped in a 5, we are also a family of 4.

The Family rooms have extra space between the couch and the verandah where there is a murphy bed that pulls down.

Last year we stayed 5a(246ft) We really want to book 4a (304ft) because need extra space but not available. This Aug. we booked 5a again. We have a choice for 4a but heard round bathroom is smaller than 5a. and also $500 more .. 2014 Dream ...room#10004
2015 Fantasy. room#10046

We love Deck10 and try to book forward.( very quiet ).

I just booked a 5A as well, because I didn't care for the round bathtub on our very first cruise. We booked on deck 9, this will be our first time on this deck, previously we have been on deck 5 and 6. The lady from DCL, told me she would rather have a room on deck 9 or 10. So hopefully, we will enjoy it just as much.

Thank you all. Yes, I was referring to the size difference between cat 5 and 4. Our recent cruise we were in cat 4B, but we were considering booking a 5B for our next cruise. We really liked being on deck 8, but I am a little concerned that we will miss the extra space???

The Cat 5 rooms don't have a round tub? What do they have? We had a 4a last month and loved the round tub for DS. We're booked in a 5c for our next cruise. I need a tub for DS (2). So, I will need to change rooms, if there's no tub in a 5c.

We're in a 5c on the Wonder, if that matters.

I am not sure if about that, I requested a regular size tub. My DH and I didn't care to much for the round tub while showering. You could always call them and ask, or even request the round tub.

I have told by TA that cat 4 has all round tub w/ shower and cat 5 has regular long tab w/ shower. Last year we stayed 5A and regular long tab w/ shower which was good for 2 kids in.
I can't compare cat 4 and 5 because no experience for cat 4... but 5 a is fine for us. we were all enjoy the room. Also we are small packer. each of us only bring carry on and back pack. even 7 days one.
Still bring jacket for DH and DS's and formal dress for myself.

Gosh my DH would love it if I could pack us each in a carry on. I normally bring 2 large suit cases and one carry on. I think I overpack just in case. LOL

If my DH not coming with me I'll be definitely overpacker . I like to bring everything just in case and just in case! But DH starts complain.... plus he doesn't like waiting luggage at turntable for long time..( I don't) man !!

Thank you all for the input. We went ahead and booked a 5B for our next cruise. I think it will be just fine. :goodvibes
