Difference between Resort/Inn vs. Villas

I'm trying to understand what the main difference is between a Resort/Inn versus a Villa. For example, the Boardwalk has a Boardwalk Inn and a Boardwalk Villa. Also, the BEach Club has a Resort and a Villa. Can someone clue me in to what the difference is?

The resort/inn is simply a regular hotel - standard or suite rooms in a hotel with restaurants, pool, gift shop.

The Villas are part of the Disney Vacation Club (timeshare). They have studios, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, and Grand Villas that will sleep up to 12. The Villas will have a kitchen or kitchenette and the non-studios have washers & dryers. These will also have their own smaller pools. Even if you don't "own" a Villa, you can still book it if there is availability, but they will be more expensive, but again, you are getting more room & amenities. We're now planning our 4th? stay at the Beach Club Villas. We have a studio. We like being in a traditionally quieter area and the toaster is great for a fast morning headed to the parks.

The most noticable difference will be the bedding. A typical studio villa room with have a queen sized bed + pullout couch. The Inn rooms will have two queen beds + a day bed.

We stayed at the Inn last week and then moved over to a 1 bedroom. They were both great. The space at the 1 bedroom and I was very happy with it.
