Can someone please help me with the difference between the PO Riverside and PO French Quarter? We are looking to book but not sure what the main difference is between the two? I know Riverside is bigger, but am wondering about how the bus stops works? Does it stop at one first and then to the others? Are the rooms similar and comparable? We are traveling with myself, DH, DD6, and DS4?

Any info is greatly appreciated!!

Different Themes ....
POFQ = New Orleans like
POR AB = Woodsy Bayou like
POR Mansions = Plantation like

For the most part (depending on the time of day) POFQ has its own bus stop. Sometimes it shares with POR but it's usually the first stop on and off.

POR is our favorite Moderate.

Both are nice., they are sister resorts. We've stayed at both. Whenever we stayed the buses at either were unpreditable, somedays FQ was already on the bus sometimes not. We preferred Riverside because of the food court had better choices (went to RS several times to eat while staying at FQ) love the decor of the mansions. Either one you stay at you can use both main pools. RS also has quite pools, FQ doesn't. There is a boat shuttle between the two resorts to save the walking, there is also a boat shuttle to DTD from both. If you do choose FQ try to get in the section closer to RS, this section was much prettier than the side closer to DTD (where we stayed). FQ only had one area to catch the buses to the parks, RS has several Bus stops, which are close to each room section, they are not far to walk to. The bad thing about being the 1st stop to get off when returning from parks to FQ resort is everyone on the bus has to move so that you can get off, which was a hassel if you were not in front of the door.

Port Orleans Riverside has a trundle bed (a bed you pull out from one of the other two beds). It's a big advantage, depending on your family situation.

After the remodel there are no more trundle beds. There is now a Murphy bed. Check out www.portorleans.org if u haven't already. Love POR and stayed in an AB preferred room in. April.

They are two separate resorts and they don't always share buses. During our week long trip last year, we only had them share one time in the middle of the afternoon when it was slow.

Port Orleans Riverside is much larger, has a TS restaurant, and has two "sides" to the resort. Magnolia Bend has four buildings that resemble mansions or Southern plantations. Two of these buildings are all Royal themed rooms (Princess theme). The other side of the resort is Alligator Bayou which is a rustic, bayou "deep woods" type theme. All Preferred Rooms are in this section.

Port Orleans French Quarter has more of an "urban" feel with the resort's theme surrounding Mardi Gras and Bourbon St in New Orleans (the French Quarter of New Orleans). The buildings resemble the buildings you'd see in that area of New Orleans. They are all close together and the resort is small, so walking is easy.

POR has four bus stops while POFQ has one. POFQ's is much smaller - POR has one of the better food courts on property IMO. They both offer the boat to DTD, with POR being picked up first and dropped off last. POR has multiple quiet pools in addition to the main pool and POFQ has one main pool, but you are allowed to use the other resort's pools. However, we found the walk between the two resorts to be long enough where we only felt like doing it once. It was on blacktop in the direct sun in the heat of September.

Overall, we prefer the look and feel of POR but POFQ is one of the more popular mods due to its size.
