Ok can someone please tell me the differences between Diet Coke & Coke Zero? Aren't they both zero calories? I can't drink Diet Coke because the fake sweeteners give me a headache but I had a Coke Zero today. It was actually pretty good. It didn't have the diet after taste and no headaches/

So why do they have 2 no calorie drinks? And what makes them so different from each other? :confused3

Coke zero uses Splenda brand sweetener, not asparatme like diet coke.

??? Are you confusing this with the new Diet Coke made with Splenda?

According to answerbag.com (and some other sites), "the originial Diet Coke is sweetened with Aspartame (nutrasweet). Coke Zero is sweetened with a blend of aspartame and acesulfame potassium. Coca-Cola's position is that the Coke Zero is supposed to taste more like the original Coke, but without calories or sugar."

Correct. And the Coca-Cola Corp also claims that Coke Zero tastes more like Coca-Cola Classic than Diet Coke does.

Coke zero has a chemical which neutralizes that metalic after taste you get with aspertane. It's basically the same recipie. I love Coke Zero and I have never liked Diet Coke.

Then what's the difference between Diet Coke made with Splenda and Coke Zero?

Me too! And I really like Cherry Coke Zero and Sprite Zero too! :thumbsup2

It's all in the flavor- You either are a diet coke drinker(like myself!) Or a coke zero drinker (like my dad- he prefers the sweeter taste that he gets from the zero- although it is fake sweet he just likes it more than the regular diet coke)

Interesting! I never did like Diet Coke or the new one with Splenda but I do half-way like Diet Cherry Coke. I'll have to try the Cherry Coke Zero now. :)

This is correct. I sampled out the product at Target a few months back. I've been doing alot of new sodas lately. Alot of them now use a blend of sweeteners. The young generation wants zero calories, but they also want the taste of the original products.

I like the move in this direction myself. :thumbsup2 They taste MUCH better. And most people who sampled the new sodas comment the same way.

I would have to look back at all the new sodas I've done, but I know Coke Zero & Cherry Coke Zero have the blend. I THINK Diet Coke Plus (plus is vitamins) even had the blend. Don't quote me on that one however.

I asked the Coke guy at the grocery store that question a while ago. He told me that Diet Coke is based on the old "New Coke" formula from that boondoggle long ago. Coke Zero is based on the Classic Coke recipe. Both use aspartame. Only Diet Coke with Splenda is made with Splenda. So there you go, straight from the Coke guy's mouth!

Then what's the difference between Diet Coke made with Splenda and Coke Zero?

Diet Coke is made with Splenda (sucralose), but Coke Zero is made with a blend of aspartame and ace-K (acesulfame potassium).

I can't drink either one of them because the aspartame in both gives me a migraine. I can drink the Diet Coke with splenda (but don't, because of the caffeine).

I don't like Diet Coke, but loved Coke Zero until they came out with Cherry Coke Zero. I could drink either of them, but will chose Cherry over the original.

See I find Diet coke to be sweeter, almost metalic. I swear it has something to do with taste buds. Now the Coke with Splenda I do find to be really sweet.

Thanks for the answers. :goodvibes I have never seen Diet Coke w/ splenda before but I guess I never really looked for it either since I don't like Diet Coke. I'm going to have to search out the Cherry Coke Zero now, I didn't know about that either! :cool1:

That's what I get for only drinking Dr Pepper :lmao:
