I see the reference Dedicated rooms and Lockoff rooms. Would someone explain these two terms for me?
Thanks

Yes, stayed in both. Dedicated is like an apt per se, the 2nd bedroom has a bed and it's own bath (sofa, I think) and the lock off is a one bedroom unit with an ajoining door to a studio (inside the unit). We stayed w/my bro-in-law and sis and (to our surprise) would of prefered the dedicated vs the lock off. The dedicated is much nicer. BUT, I believe some of the lock offs will offer 2 queen beds in the area vs a bed and sofa. Also, when we had the lock-off, we had these little decks, not too fun for 4 folks. We each sat in our own little deck and yelled (softly, that is) across to each other. Don't forget to confirm w/member services exactly what you want and what you are getting. Learned that lesson too!

These refer to 2-B/R villas.

Dedicated means the 2nd bedroom opens only to the main LR of the unit. The 2nd bedroom will not have a door going outside. It will have it's own bathroom, but otherwise for all purposes it is a 'dedicated' second bedroom for that villa.

A lockoff is a two bedroom where the second bedroom is in reality a studio, with a door between it and the other one-b/r villa's living room. The door can be locked from both sides, just like adjourning rooms in a hotel. That way the studio portion can be used as a 2nd bedroom, OR it can be used as an independent studio.

In the case of a lock-off, the 'studio/2nd bedroom' has an outside entrance, has a mini 'kitchen' area with sink, mini-fridge, microwave, etc. Everything you would expect in a studio.

Hope this helps

Studios and 1 bedrooms can also be dedicated, which means they don't have a lockoff door. I prefer a dedicated because the connecting door allows noise to come in from the other room.

I've always wondered the differences as well (though this is what I've guessed in my head) so thanks for posting the facts!

Good point, but to me it depends on the resort. At some (because of where the lock offs vs. dedicated villas are located) the lock-offs have much better views.
