Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

szubieta, I feel your pain. You've encouraged me to start talking "ship rules'" with the Fox girls. Doesn't hurt to start early! I think I may need to yank them from Oceanneers club for photos with characters, but they may not mind that so much. Now, if I could only get them to behave at the table...here's to hoping!

I told Joe that I won't ask him to do many pics with characters and we still haven't decided if we're doing the character breakfast. With just the basic characters I would rather do that in the parks.

BTW... Welcome to all the newbies!! party:

Yeah, we (shhh, don't tell anyone) aren't Disney fanatics, but my daughter Sydnee ADORES Ariel so we will stop everything and bring Syd to her. Jazmin could probably pass, but I might get her with Cinderella if given the chance. At Dland it's a HUGE line to meet princesses so it's never on our TO DO list. At CA Adventure it was super slow and easy to take photos, but my kids just can't wait an hour at Dland for a photo.

We thought about doing something non- DCL but ended up booking the pirate cruise through DCL just to make sure the ship waits for us if we are late. Macy and Sean are almost 5 and 3...I am sure your little one would have fun also!:goodvibes

:

Aaarrrrr matey! We booked the night pirate cruise too. Both of my kids like the pirate theme. We thought the pirate cruise could be a precursor to what I'm sure is going to total pirate-mania on pirate night.

Ann-Marie, You can leave your daughter in the "school" as we call it, and take your son out for a few hours of nap time while you read a book in the room. My DD's love the ship "school" (we call it that because they love school!) and we only take them out when we have to (when school is not in session) or when there is something fun that I want to experience with them, like on the Mariner of the Seas RCI I wanted to ice skate with Jaz so I took her out so I could selfishly have fun with her. She couldn't wait to get back to her friends. I got my thrill, though. I bet if you make it as close to your home routine as possible then your DS will go with it, so make sure you bring a bedtime story (which we do at night) or whatever snugglies or bedtime music (and player) you may need to convince him that there is nothing going on that he is missing. Well, that's all I got...no guarantee's it will work. :flower:

Kel, thanks for the advice. I have to admit that it didn't occur to me that I could take my son out of the OC and leave my daughter there. I'm so used to transporting them from place to place together. :confused3 I will try to maintain as much of our regular napping/nighttime routine as possible. My DS loves his bedtime stories. My DD and I have gotten into the routine of having her read to me in the morning since we are the early risers in the family. It is going to be hard to determine which books to bring on the Mickey boat....choose a selection of their old favorite books or bring new books to discover and enjoy on vacation?

Ok...I'll throw some change on the table.

JoJo was 5 1/2 on our last cruise and we had to do some quick thinking. We didn't know about "Club Addiction" all the kids seemed to have. He was also NOT a napper. He didn't want to leave the club for lunch, dinner, shows or bed. We used the arcade, and the club its self as leverage. He didn't mind us one day so I kept him in the room for the evening. We didn't have anymore problems after that. I have been telling him for the pasted couple months now what to expect this time around, ie lunch, dinner, shows, and he already said he just wants to stay in club all the time. I have told him that's it's not an option he will have times that Daddy and I would like to be together as a family. We will spend more time, now that's he's older, going over the navigator together before bed. Hope some mutual planning will help. So just be prepared for the worsed and pray for the best. We're gonna have a great time!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the heads up on the "club addiction". I can see it already, but your idea of talking about the expectations on the boat beforehand is a great one. I also like the idea of involving the kiddos in the planning of the days events. If the biggest drama that happens on this trip is that my kids don't want to leave the OC I can live with that. I'm looking forward to the family time together and most definitely to the private time with my hubby.:cheer2:

Praying for strength and comfort for Sandy, Danny and Jojo today as they remember Danny's sister. :grouphug:

I totally agree...it's their vacation too!

Thank you, Thank you!! Her twin sister is really having a hard time and Tues will be their 45th birthday. It's turning out to be a beautiful day. We were suppose to have rain and snow and now there's not a cloud in the sky. :thumbsup2

If you haven't booked anything for Cabo yet, here are some more options. I think we will do the ATV/horseback ride. They have complimentary pickup/drop-off at the cruise ship.

Mommafox - we may be able to join you at Disneyland on 4/29, but we'll have to see after we get back. That is the day of the Royal Wedding for Wills and Kate. I'm a sucker for a good romance.

We are also booked for the Pirate Boat Sail & Snorkel Adventure through DCL on day 4.

Is there an evening one also?

We are booked on the one that leaves early in the am.

We have the same problem with non-napping children. Plus we are on Central Time here so when the pirate party start at 9pm it will really be 11pm for us.:scared1:

Michelle, I have a feeling the ship is going to change to central time for Manzanillo and PV, both of those cities are on CST.

My kids change to "ship time" when we sail. They stay up later and sleep in later. They all seem to be super charged up and have more energy on the ship. They do sleep soundly at night though. My 2 3/4 year old Brennan, he does not nap at home. I am going to have to lay down with him or something because he will have to nap on the ship. I think around 2 or 3 everyday will be his nap time and the big kids will be occupied elsewhere. This will work every day except embarkation day. They have that darned safety drill between 3:30 and 4pm and they have loud announcements in the room. No way my kids can nap through that. So first night I will have a tried boy at dinner. My kid also go to bed at 7:30pm.

What you are not a Disney freak like us:eek: Just kidding:lmao: My daughter is not into princesses at all, so we don't need to worry about those lines. I do like getting photos with the other character though. The breakfast is a good chance for that.

Praying for strength and comfort for Sandy, Danny and Jojo today as they remember Danny's sister. :grouphug:

So sorry Sandy. Thoughts are with you today.

I apologize if I missed the answer to my question in a previous posting- the menus that are on Travelbees site, are there certain foods for those menus that would be better in one restaurant or another, or theme? Any listings anywhere as to what is served, for example, taste of California or prince and princesses menus? I said I'd go with the flow on this cruise and am failing profoundly! Want to make it the best possible experience. We've repeat vacationed in some locales and the familiarity makes it feel like home away from home. All the info and pictures make us feel like we know what to expect already! I'm just curious to understand the significance of knowing the menus in advance, or is this a "good to know" type thing?

Kristen, the menus will be the exact same in all restaurants for everything but the Rotational Dining. Those menus are dining room specific.

There might be scans of these menus on the main board, I would do a search for them.

From your mouth to God's (or Mickey's) ears! Remember on FB where I said I was on the phone with DCL because of issues? Well, I still have issues. We had a room, then changed for the Military rate, now I'm GTY. :sad2: Currently, DCL is not my friend. I'm sure we'll patch it up before cruise date.

Susan......Hakuna Matata. I have faith that everything will work out great for you guys. Sending you and Rick positive vibes. :goodvibes

While I don't think Ann and I will get an upgrade, I do believe that we will have folks here on the meet board get them. If I could wave my magic wand, I would for all of us :wizard:

I didn't realize there was a choice. (Never mind. I see it now. Looks like fun.) Did you book through DCL? We are on the 8:45, on day 4 (PV) Who else is on this one?

Yes we booked the pirate night cruise with DCL as our excursion in PV. It starts at 5 pm and includes a dinner, show and fireworks. My mini-scalawags are sure to enjoy the night cruise....and I will too.pirate:

For more info go to:

A few weeks ago the cruise was not listed as an option. It was recently added. As I have read from this board DCL is continually updating their excursion options.

Just went shopping for DD13's cruise wear - it's so hard to find things that are age appropriate. Everything is too short and very revealing! It's freaking us both out!:scared1:

I hear ya. What's a 19 year old boy (man?) supposed to wear for Formal Night? Pa-leeze!:headache:

Ok, so this confirms my suspicion as to why DCL canceled this many other beach excursions, or rather I bet DCL was canceled by the resorts. So, this really kinda bums me out...we've been hearing that the locals go to the beaches during holy week and that it's crazy busy...which means not much room for cruisers! UGH! Well, worst comes to worst...the ship is always fun! LOL!!!

We always complain that we didn't get enough time on board, so this cruise might just cure that issue :goodvibes
