Who knows anything about DIVERSIONS on the ship? I'm hearing it's a little place to relax and play games.

Here you go Susan found this today.... It was on the main threads

"DIVERSIONS!! We spent many evenings down there, until about 11:30 playing yahtzee and having a quiet drink. It is almost always nearly deserted in there... so a nice place to relax after a busy day.
During the day the kids can come with you and there are board games you can use. Our girls loved Jenga and yahtzee and Princess Chutes and Ladders. If you have late seating for dinner, this is a good place to come get snacks before your show. Around 5:00 they put out wings, tortilla chips with salsa, sour cream and some other toppings, fresh veggies and I think there were always hotdogs too.
If you are a sports fan they always have some kind of game on TV."

For FE purposes, does everybody on the FE list celebrate Easter in some fashion? I would hate to deliver Easter candies to FE-ers that recognize other celebrations. We do Easter, btw.

Oh yes....we definitely celebrate Easter :goodvibes

Yes, we celebrate Easter. In fact, I'm bummed that we will miss our Easter Celebration at church. It's my favorite.

Me too. Our church is having a play and several guests ministers on Easter Sunday. I will miss. We do streaming of services but I doubt I will get a chance to look since we are scheduled for excursion on Easter Sunday.

Who knows anything about DIVERSIONS on the ship? I'm hearing it's a little place to relax and play games.

Yes....I am looking forward to DIVERSIONS. I briefly considered bringing some poker chips on board to play poker but, not certain if I can find anyone to partake in some Texas Hold'em. Definitely looking forward to watching some of the NBA playoffs and having some drinks during our cruise. :cool1:

Thanks Karen, that's where I heard about it in the first place. Haven't ever heard it mentioned before. We'll definitely check it out. Farkle, anyone?

Group two participants--hold off on gifts for Mjespro--I cannot get ahold of her. Does anyone know Jennifer and is she still doing the FE?

Sorry...I'm finally back! No more disappearances before the cruise. Yes, we're still in for FE unless that doesn't work for you. :worship: I'll understand if it's too late.
Our stateroom is 7080.
Spenser is a boy (note the two s's). He loves when his name is spelled right. None of his school certificates this year have had his name spelled correctly - and I teach at the school! :confused3[/QUOTE]

No problem on the disappearing act. It happens. I'm a teacher as well and find it difficult to keep up with the disboard as frequently as my husband and some others.

I reached out to Disney Cruise re: our beer, martini or tequilla tasting. I'm told that they can take from a few days to a week to respond. In the meantime, I wanted to start putting together a list of those intersted. Please send me a PM with your Disname and names of those in your party that will be joining the fun.

Thanks!

Count Virdis and I are in.

Thank you for taking the lead on this.

This is where Danny will be if he can find a Backgammon buddy. :thumbsup2
Thank God we will have wave phones so I won't spend time coming back and forth seeing if he's ready to leave. Between him in Diversions and Joe in the club...Bingo here I come.

Don't bring chip, you can use the FE gift. :rotfl: I tickled myself!. :lmao:

Forgot to ask....

This is my first cruise ever. I get motion sick in the car all the time, so I figure I will be prone to sea sickness.

I have gotten the patch from the M.D. I have also bought the bonine. What is your guys experience. Should I take the bonine 24 hrs before and hope that works well... if not add the patch? Or should I go full throttle and use the patch? I am scared to use the patch, because of the side effects- dry mouth, dilated eyes, I CANT drink!

Thanks!

I can get motion sick just watching a movie. On our previous cruise, my son and I took Bonine each day - just in case. We were NEVER sick at all. I don't know whether we would have been without the Bonine, but I didn't want to take the chance.

I suggest trying out the patch BEFORE the cruise if you think you might use it. When I tried it I was so excited :woohoo:I was sure it would be the answer for me. Within an hour after sticking it on (while still on dry land) I started experiencing side effects. The dilated eyes and dry mouth would have been bearable if I still hadn't felt so nauseas!

Helen, please count James and I in, although we're not beer drinkers, or much into wine, we're happy to go with the majority - I'm sure it's all about the company anyway :)

How fun... count DH and I in!

Can you add us to the list for the tastings as well...

Count Virdis and I are in.

Thank you for taking the lead on this.

Sure thing :goodvibes I will add you all to the list. :cheer2:

Also, what about the kiddos? Do they get sea sick at all? My pedi told us to give them benadryl if needed. Did anyone have to do this?

Thanks!

Both my boys suffer from motion sickness - cars/planes/boats - you name it. I was really worried on our first cruise but they actually faired pretty well. I think all the distractions really helped. I think Mommafox has the right of it. Try and keep yourself busy - go dancing. None the less, I did give my boys dramamine the first night. It made them sleepy but much better alternative to having them sick.

So I don't know if this means anything but I can not change rooms to anything on our cruise right now. The DCL site is now showing no rooms available for the first time (at least that I've seen it). So I am wondering if they are about to start shuffling folks around. I am really surprise to see this because I usually can move to a bunch of choices on Decks 7 and 8. But now nothing shows open. I doubt all of those cabins got taken in the last 24 hours.

Researching this, I've heard that this usually happens when DCL is assigning GTY folks as they want to lock anyone from making changes or any new reservations, but it looks like they have already finished GTY assignments. So my only guess (and of course I can not base this on anything) is that they are locking all changes so that they can make changes themselves. But who knows. There seems to be no logic in what happens. Man, I am stressing out and this is only my first DCL cruise!!!!!! :rotfl:

Anyway, I am hoping that something is about to happen. Oh please, please, please.....Pixie Dust for somebody here!!!!! pixiedust:

How in the world are you able to bring all those bottles of port wine samples (DH's favorite) halfway around the world?!

because we have the most kind disfriends around here.i will ship it with ups to kristi´s house and them she will bring them to the port.kristy you rock.:worship:

Hi! The Coffman's and the the Popovich's are in for the wine or beer or whatever tasting. So please add 5 (my Mom is going to cruise with us now too!) Thank you for organizing this!

Leeanna, I get motion sick too, car & sea. I did get horribly sick my first cruise when I was 12 and then several whale watching and Catalina type boats. I take 24 hour less drowsy formula Dramamine. I take it once a night, starting the night before the cruise. I have never had side effects or have gotten sick. I figure if I get drowsy, I am going to bed shortly anyway. for the kids I have given them Boninie for Kids. I am not sure if they even get sea sick, but I thought better be safe them sorry. I gave my 4 1/2 year old 1/2 tablet twice a day and my 6 year old I gave her a full tablet. Since I have never seen my kids get motion sick, I might start out giving them the Bonine for a day or so and then stop.

Oh Sandy, I will join you in the Bingo. I love cruise ship Bingo. I just wish it was not $30 a pop.

Virdis, every time I read your theories I get excited. I keep hoping for an upgrade, but I seriously doubt it will happen.

:goodvibes, happy to help. I keep forgetting to tell you that I received your Disney store box. Keeping it safe for you in my cruise stuff area.

I would love to join you guys at the tasting, however I really do not drink. Can I just come to socialize and watch all of you get drunk?? :lmao::lmao:

With the beginning of March we are swallowed up by activities. We have swim team practice or baseball every night of the week. Then a ton of Girl Scout activities thrown in for good measure. I really am going to need this trip in 5 1/2 weeks to get a break from it all.

Yeah BINGO!!! I have never played in town, it's a cruise vise. :rolleyes1

It's is always fun to see people changing right before sober eyes. :thumbsup2

5 1/2 weeks, it's what's keeping me going! :woohoo:

Did somebody say bingo? I love bingo! Used to love hitting the bingo hall at the Palace Station in Vegas, but now it seems like every time I'm in Vegas it's for work -- no time to play. :sad2:

I tend to get motion sick but I only felt sick on a DCL cruise once...12-15 foot swells, in the jacuzzi...took one sip of an adult libation. I looked at my friends (fourmcds) and hubby and said, uh oh, I'm outta here. I ended up in the cabin for 4 hours. I really think it was because the ship was going one way and I was in a different body of water that was going the opposite direction of the ship.

I've used the patch and hated it. I prefer bonine but again I've never had to take it on a Disney cruise. My kids have each used bonine and it works great for them.

Ahhh, yes, that was a classic day....you needing to go lay down and scott body surfing in the adult pool as Nan, Paul and I held on to our drinks!:goodvibes

but, for seasickness...there are the ear patches (scopolamine) that you can get ahead of time if you are worried....they don't seem to cause the fatigue that the bonine/dramamine etc causes. I think they can be worn for 3 days at a time. And, if i remember correctly, in front of the health clinic, they have a basket full of seasickness pills if you get in trouble and didn't bring anything (that was what we found on our cruise in 05, but have not checked it out since then....anyone else know?)

Yeah BINGO!!! I have never played in town, it's a cruise vise. :rolleyes1

My husband is a bingo addict on the cruises!! Last cruise, the jackpot was won by a single person....4700!!! (enough to pay off her cruise)

OMGosh...Hey Karen does that bring back some memories?? :rotfl: :rotfl: Would have won a very large Keno jackpot if the runner didn't skip up on a game. :confused3

One more DISer at BINGO! :thumbsup2 Our last cruise I was one of the people standing and...BINGO someone ELSE yelled it out. :sad2: It was over $10,000 we were on a 15nt. I felt the blood drain from my face when I heard that. There seems to be a pattern here...maybe this time! :woohoo:

Hm...I think you may be right, something is going on. But today I am seeing rooms available that have not been available. We upgraded last week but got the last room available in our category and it is one that I don't want. However, today there are rooms in the next category up that have not been available. Maybe DCL is on to me and want me to pay for the upgrade, lol. But you're right...something is going on.

Haha... I disappeared for a few days, and there is so much to catch up on! I am currently moving... Lots of packing and unpacking... I had to read 12 pages...

Can you add us to the list for the tastings as well...

For those of you doing the dolphin encounter on Monday in Cabo, is anyone doing it at 10:45? Want to share pictures?

Yes we celebrate Easter.

As for the e-readers or the ipad. I am an optometrist so have some experience with patient complaints of fatigued eyes :confused3. I would say the e-reader is much better for reading. It is not back lit, it is made with technology called e-ink, which therefore doesn't cause the eyes to overaccomodate. The ipad as with other computer screens screens are typically higher-contrast, brighter, flicker and reflect glare more - all of which are potential sources of eyestrain, headaches, and fatigue. That being said. The ipad is pretty awesome! I'm trying not to play with one- since I love gadgets, bad for the pocketbook :lmao:

Thanks for the interesting perspective on the e-readers. Maybe it's better to stick with an e-reader for books....very confusing...
