How do you do it? I plan on enjoying my vacation (allowing myself things, but not overindulging too much!), but wanted some tips on better choices. Salads are good I know and stay clear of breads and carbs to a certain extent..anyone else have any tips? I plan on hitting the treadmill on non-park days. TIA

Dieting around The World? Me?

Ha! Ahahahahahahahaha! :rotfl2: No way I could do it!

I swim every day and at WDW I swim in the morning before heading out and sometimes (not usually) in the afternoons.

But I can't diet there! Half the fun is the yummies!

Good Luck!
:flower:

I eat my favs in moderation.

I try to eat salads everywhere because they are my fav and WDW makes good ones! I love the salad at Pecos Bills. We also eat Dole Whips and Cho. Covered Bananas which are both low in calories and fat. I bring treats, like candies and cookies, so I can slowly savor them at home and also remember WDW.

I actually lost 3 of my 25 lbs. weightloss while at WDW in 2004! A lot of walking and good choices help me stay fit!

Yes..I love those Dole Whips..good to know they are low in calories! I love most of the food there and will partake in some..maybe we'll share more this time around..except that Smore's Sundae at Ghirardelli! I have a good idea....I am going to take a "before" picture of me to remind me to not go hog wild. (I still have a ways to go on my diet.)

I honestly don't worry about diets while at WDW and I think I've never gained a pound. All the swimming and walking burns all the calories I take in.

I have lost about 60 pounds now (in 2 1/2 years, and still have about 30 to go). I also have been on property for about 8 days, I head home tomorrow.

Here is what I do.

At the buffets we have gone to (and the CDK program has had many), I start with a big salad with minimal dressing, and then go for a small amount of meat and a large amount of veggies when available. For breakfast this morning, I started with a plate of fruit, and then had one mickey waffle, a small amount of eggs and potatoes. Make the large plate your healthy plate (salad, fruit, veggies) and your small plate your dinner/breakfast plate.

For times when I haven't eaten with anyone else, I often have gone to the Boardwalk for one slice of pizza. I also like to get kids meals, I had a sloppy joe kids meal at the Pop Century yesterday - it was plenty big enough.

I also have been getting up early to work out, and we have walked a lot.

It can be done - I do allow myself some dessert, but I've had bread minimally because I love it and I'd pig out on it if in front of me!

You can stick with eating healthy if you want to - and still enjoy your food! I write everything I eat down, and have been pretty good about sticking with just a bit over my normal calories most days. Oh - and I do live in the Orlando area, and love to go to Earl of Sandwich. I will either get a smoothie, or (this past time), I split a sandwhich with a friend, and had a side order of salad.

I went off my healthy eating when in Europe for 2 1/2 weeks in May/June and paid the price, even though we walked a LOT (including up many, many stairs). It'd not have been so bad, except I was physically exhausted when we got back and it took me a few weeks to get fully up and running on my regular exercise, and the weight I gained stuck to me. I wish I'd been more careful, I could have lost weight instead!

Oh - and don't use the treadmill, take a nice walk at whatever resort you are at! I use weights and the elliptical at the fitness center, but my favorite thing has been (over the past few years) walking around the Boardwalk, Fort Wilderness, Pop, etc. A friend of mine has lost 150 pounds now, and we used to meet to sit and eat (when we were both very heavy) and now we meet to do a 2 - 3 hour walk.

Oh - and don't wear loose-fitting pants. Wear something form fitting, you'll feel the food when you eat just a little too much!

The only thing I can add is if you do indulge try to make it early, you will be amazed at how you work it off. Who says treats have to be dessert after dinner. :cool1:

Thanks for the tips! Having the treat earlier in the day is a good idea as well as the bigger plate being the healthier plate and the smaller plate being things that aren't so good. I may stick to the treamill or elliptical (I love the elliptical) at the gym because we are going in late June and early July...and it's way too hot. Currently I am doing Niutrisystem. I have lost 43 lbs so far and by the time we go I'm estimating to be down another 54lbs. (I am averaging 2 lbs/week). So I don't care if I don't lose any..just don't want to gain any, but if I do I can live with 5 lbs. Nutrisystem is prepackaged meals, but it's really helped curb my appetite and make better choices. I should be OK as long as I bring that picture along. :0) Thanks!!!
